A Note from Deacon Jim A few weeks ago, as I was sitting on my front porch, I noticed a car coming up my driveway. I had no idea who it was until a man and his wife walked up to the porch and told me they were in the neighborhood and dropped by to see how I was doing. I told them that I haven’t heard anything about a possible liver trans-plant donor. I was just about giving up after almost a year waiting for any word from the doctors. At that point the man looked at me and said, “well I’m here to tell you that I’m your donor”. That man is someone many of you know, his name is Paul Mar-coux. Paul and I will be admitted to UMass Memorial Medical Center on December 2nd and will undergo surgery on December 3rd. Paul will give me a piece of his liver and it will be transplanted into me after re-moving my entire liver. Both livers will grow to full size in a matter of weeks. I’m asking you to please keep us both in your pray-ers but especially Paul who is a very healthy man and is putting himself in harms way in a selfless act of love to save my life. Finally, I would like to thank everyone including Fr. Fred from the bottom of my heart for your many thoughts and prayers over the last several months, es-pecially those who have taken the time and made the effort to be tested as a potential living donor. God bless you all. Love, Deacon Jim, Dorothy, and children
