Highlights of the
Lane Motor
Museum Tour
Hello you all:
Another month finished and a third of way into September. We need to
grow wings so we can keep up.
September meeting went good, not to many in attendance. Although I could not make the cruise to Lane Museum, I understand it was a great success and everyone had a good time. We have one new prospective member. I appointed a Nominating Committee to line up new Board Members for the coming year of 2015, not very many volunteered. A special board meeting was called for Sunday Sept. 7th at 4:00PM. Only one board member was not present at this called meeting. Since we had a Quorum we elected new board members for 2015, they will be announced next meeting. We also
voted to give more donations,
1. Community Food Pantry LaVergne Northern Rutherford
County $2,000.00
2. Murfreesboro Rescue Mission $5,000.00
3. Cedar Grove Elementary School $1,500.00
I have made a suggestion that we join the Chamber of Commerce as it will help us in the community as many do not know about our car club and I feel it will help us in the future for growing our club. Plans are being made to visit the Chamber soon. More people are needed for all committee's
please if you can, help us.
Remember our sick members and we all know who needs prayers. Pray every day for our military and local law enforcement and all our troubled
times ,we can make it through these rough waters.
God Bless All
Jerry

Committee Reports from this month’s Business Meeting:
Treasurer’s Report by Dr. Jay Werthmuller: He gave the balance of each of our accounts. He also
suggested the car club consider change banks, since they have not provided the car club with good service.
He also suggested that we send out a letter with a return stamped envelop for members dues for 2015.
Since an up-to-date membership roster has to be turned in by the end of December.
Activities Report by Celia Murrah: I asked for volunteers to help with a big group of over 100 3rd graders
coming for a Field Trip on Wednesday, September 24th. Reminded the members about the AACA Car Show
at Red Boiling Springs. We have our Annual Harvest Days Cruise-In on Saturday, October 25th. I asked for
volunteers to serve on a Christmas Committee. This committee selects a community ministry, that we can
help during the holiday. Then, presents this project to the Directors and Executive Board at the next meeting.
Garage Report by Ron Merritt: He reminded the members about the up-coming Field Trip. He also asked

1969 Shelby GT500
A recent garage find that included another heirless car enthusiast, but this time in the U.S., was a rare 1969 Shelby GT500 with only 8,500 miles. The classic muscle car was reportedly never washed or even driven in the rain because the owner was afraid water would damage the paint, and it also had all original parts, including tires, belts, hoses and even 1968 date-coded spark plug wires. The most recent warranty work on record was adjustment of the door glass in September 1969, and even after the owner stopped driving the car he cranked its 428 Cobra Jet engine as recently as three years
ago.
1926 Vauxhall 30-98 racer
This 1926 Vauxhall 30-98 sat outside under a tarpaulin in Arlington, Virginia, for close to 47 years before it was uncovered as a long-lost classic race car. When someone associated with the vehicle contacted the Bonhams auction house to ask about its value, research revealed that it had raced at England's legendary Brooklands Motor Circuit from 1933 to 1935. The car's title was erroneously changed in 1948, but after some digging Bonhams found that it was one of the best known and successfully
campaigned Vauxhalls from the 1930s.
1966 Ford GT
When Tom Shaughnessy found this Ford GT40 in a California garage, its primer-gray rear end was the only thing visible in the piles of boxes and debris surrounding the car. Not only is it one of three GT40 models ever made with a rare rear-clamshell design, but it's also the only survivor. It was the final GT40 produced in 1966 and the last to use a Ford serial number, since all subsequent GT40s were made by the English company J.W. Automotive Engineering. Shaughnessy became the owner of the GT40 following a year-long bidding war, at a price he would only
describe as "very expensive."

AACA Museum announces the Grand Opening Of the Cammack Tucker Gallery
Wednesday, October 8, 2014
Hershey, PA (July 21, 2014) Since opening its doors in 2003, the permanent exhibit of the Cammack Tucker
collection of vehicles and memorabilia has been a frequent question on the minds of visitors to the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) Museum in Hershey. This highly anticipated exhibit has been more than a year in the making from accessioning artifacts to the exhibit design. The AACA Museum is excited to officially announce that the Grand Opening will take place on Wednesday, October 8th from 6-10 PM with a ticketed event - Night at the Museum presented by RM Auctions. This eagerly awaited evening will be a celebration of the Motoring Hobby as enthusiasts from all over the world gather in Hershey for the annual AACA Eastern
Division National Fall Meet. The public opening of the exhibit area will begin on Thursday, October 9th.
The enthusiasm and creativity that propelled Preston Tucker and his vision for the Tucker automobile is something that has captured the hearts of many. An extensive - the world's largest- collection of three (3) Tucker vehicles and many other Tucker automobilia have found their new home at the
AACA Museum in Hershey, PA from the David Cammack Collection.
Mr. David Cammack, a very good friend and supporter of the AACA Museum, passed on in 2013. Mr. Cammack was an avid Tucker collector and has provided his extensive Tucker Collection to the AACA Museum. His desire was to have this collection open to the public, and the AACA Museum is
honored to be chosen as the caretakers and able to share this collection with the public.
The Cammack collection includes three 1948 Tucker '48 vehicles, the factory Tucker test chassis, thousands of engineering drawings and blueprints, original Tucker parts, several engines as well as many other artifacts and displays. The vehicles include Tucker #1001 - the first 'production' prototype, Tucker #1022, and Tucker #1026 - the only existing Tucker built with an automatic transmission. A total of 51 Tuckers were built by hand in Chicago, of which 47 are known to still exist. Preston Tucker and his story was detailed in Francis Ford Coppola's 1988 film, "Tucker:
The Man and His Dream" and certainly helped bolster the public's intense fascination with the car.
