The peak of fall foliage color is here throughoutmost of the Cherokee National Forest.
Color at elevations above 3,000 has peaked. Color atlower elevations between 1,200 & 2,500 is at or nearpeak.
Wind and rain have caused some leaves to fall earlythroughout the Forest.

There are plenty of sights and sounds to take in whilevisiting the Cherokee National Forest. Just look up,down and around, you may be surprised!
Estimated Peak Period:Peak viewing periods may vary from year to year &area to area. Current Conditions:
Fall foliage color above 3,000 has peaked in most
areas.
Colors at elevations between 1,200 and 2,500 are ator near peak. Colors in the valleys are at about 75%
of peak throughout the area.
Things are changing rapidly. Dont wait too late to get
out and take it all in!

Ocoee Scenic Byway
The first designated national forest scenic byway in thenation, the Ocoee, includes 26 miles of US Highway 64and Forest Road 77. The section of the byway upForest Road 77 to Chilhowee Recreation Area offerssplendid viewing opportunities, especially duringautumn. Take in long-range views of the TennesseeValley and surrounding mountains. On a clear day you
can see North Carolina, Georgia and excellent views ofthe Cherokee National Forest.
From US 64 the byway winds past Parksville Lake,through the Ocoee River Gorge and past the OcoeeWhitewater Center.
World class whitewater boating, mountain biking andhiking trails, a visitors center, the 1996 Olympicwhitewater course, highly developed camping, andpicnicking are a few features youll find along thebyway.
