Pentecost Sunday “The Advocate, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything
and remind you of all that I told you.” (JOHN 14:26)
The materialism of our society lures us to concentrate more on what we want than on what God wants for us. The
relativism of our world tells us that we should be tolerant of all things, that there is no absolute truth. Pray to the
Holy Spirit to transform our lives and to guide our thoughts, words and actions.

Dear Friends.
Thank you for welcoming me to St. Mary’s, St. Joseph’s and Sacred Heart parishes last
weekend. I am happy and excited to be part of your Catholic communities. The few days I
have been here, you have all made me feel at home here in Northern Minnesota. Thank you
for making me feel at home while away from home!
I would like to congratulate Deacon Jim Lukenbill for being appointed by Bishop Hoeppner
as the deacon for all the three parishes of St. Mary’s, Warroad, St. Joseph’s, Williams and
Sacred Heart, Baudette. Although Deacon Jim has already been ministering in all the three
parishes, his official appointment was only for St. Joseph’s and Sacred Heart parishes. Now
he is officially appointed as the deacon for all the three parishes.
I will be away this week from Sunday afternoon, June 9th to Thursday, June 13th. I will be
attending the annual priests’ retreat for the priests of the diocese of Crookston taking place
in Fair Hills Resort in Detroit Lakes, MN. Pray for us to have a fruitful retreat as we shall
also pray for you.
Now, a word of self-introduction. I was born 45 years ago on October 10, 1973, in Uganda,
East Africa. I am the youngest of eight children: four boys and four girls. My father and two
siblings are now deceased. My 90-year-old mother has thirty-three grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren. I come from a very devout Catholic family including one maternal un-
cle who is a priest and one maternal aunt who is a nun.
I had my priestly formation right from the junior preparatory seminary at the age of fif-
teen. After completing college Seminary in Uganda, I was asked by my bishop to go to
Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, LA, where I completed my theological studies. I was
ordained a deacon on January 24, 2004 at St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans and a priest
six months later on July 3, 2004, at Uganda Martyrs’ Cathedral in Tororo, Uganda.
I worked in different parishes and in different capacities in my home Archdiocese of Tororo.
In 2009, I joined a graduate program in Canon Law at St. Paul University in Ottawa, On-
tario, Canada, where I graduated with a licentiate in Canon Law in December 2011. In 2012,
I came to Crookston Diocese for a pastoral experience and was assigned to Sacred Heart
Parish in East Grand Forks. After one year in East Grand Forks, I was assigned to St. Ber-
nard Parish in Thief River Falls for another one year. I then decided to return to Ottawa in
2014 to pursue a doctorate degree in Canon Law. In December 2016, soon after completing
writing my doctoral dissertation, I returned to Crookston Diocese and was assigned as an as-
sociate priest in Holy Rosary, Detroit Lakes, where I have been working until my recent ap-
pointment to Warroad, Williams and Baudette.
I am happy to be part of your parish communities and I look forward to serving you and get-
ting to know all of you more.
God bless you all!
Fr. Andrew
