Respect Resilience Responsibility Kindness
Last week, information was posted on Compass updating parents on our ‘Remote
Learning’ journey. Once again, I must congratulate all of our Warrandyte school
community for the wonderful way in which they have embraced what is a chal-
lenging concept. Staff continue to provide a diverse and engaging online curricu-
lum delivered through a variety of technologies and plenty of creativity. There has
been some wonderful feedback from parents and students, which continues to
guide the evolution of our online learning. Please continue to use compass to pass
on feedback.
We will continue to strive towards providing a positive learning experience for stu-
dents, which promotes independence, engagement and academic challenge.
We do not always expect that everything with our remote learning will go smooth-
ly. We have definitely experienced that in our first few weeks. The current climate
is a challenging one for everyone, with each family dealing with their own unique
set of challenges. We know that everyone is doing their very best to support their
child’s/children’s learning while ensuring the wellbeing of all family members.
Please talk to your child’s classroom teacher if things become challenging or over-
whelming for you or your child. The wellbeing of our Warrandyte Primary School
community continues to be our number one priority during these times.
Don’t hesitate to email me at ([email protected]) if you need any
further support, have questions or concerns or would just like to have a chat.
Meteor Shower
Every now and again in our skies we are treated to some fantastic light shows. One
such ‘light show’ will be appearing in our sky during the month of May. The Eta
Aquariid meteor shower is set to light up the sky across the Southern Hemisphere
and is currently at its peak.
"The Eta Acquarids are tiny grains of dust that originated in Halley's comet. The
dust slams into the atmosphere at 66 kilometres per second, burning up at roughly
100 kilometres altitude, producing meteors, or shooting stars," Associate Professor
Michael Brown, from the Monash School of Physics and Astronomy, said.

I would love to hear from any students (or parents) who were lucky enough to have experienced the ‘light show’.
Send me an email and let me know what you saw. Unfortunately, when I got up at 4.30am, there was too much
cloud cover above and I did not get a view of the meteor shower. I’ll try again tonight, fingers crossed!
Make ‘Mr Crouch Laugh’
I have had some very funny jokes sent to me this week that have definitely made me laugh. If you would like to send
through a joke, you can send it to [email protected]
I have really enjoyed reading your jokes and your messages.
Thought of the Week
May the Force be with you! Happy Star Wars Day – May the 4th….

Origami 1000 Paper Cranes Our Origami 1000 Paper Crane project had passed the halfway mark by the end of Term 1. If
any students would like to continue making cranes I have left ready to make kits at the
school.
Students will need to keep their completed cranes until we all return to school.
These Origami cranes usually represent a wish or a prayer for World Peace, but they can represent anything, includ-
ing wishes and prayers for an end to the current pandemic. I encourage any students & families to join in with our
Origami 1000 paper crane project.
Call the school to arrange a day/time to collect a kit or two.
Arigatou.
