On Sunday, October the 1st, our Parish will celebrate Rosary Sunday. Traditionally the month of October has been dedicated to Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary and it is also the Feast of our Parish and School. At the 5PM Mass on Sunday, October the 1st, we will honor Our Blessed Lady with the celebration of Holy Mass followed by the blessing of roses which will be distributed to the congregation and the recitation of the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary in both English and Spanish and followed by a candle light tribute to the Holy Mother of God. All are welcome as we commemorate the month of October and devotion to the Holy Rosary.
Father Daniel will celebrate the 30th anniversary of his Ordination to the
Priesthood on Sunday, October the 8th, at the 10:30 AM Mass
followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. Light refreshments will be
served. All parishioners and friends of our Parish are
cordially invited to attend.
Congratulations, Father Daniel. Ad multos annos!

Dear Parishioners,
The devastating effects of Hurricane Irma have taken a toll on all of us. As many know so well, previous storms have created far more damage but, nevertheless, the early prediction of the recent hurricane brought with it fear, anxiety and emotional distress. Praise God, it is now behind us.
Be assured that during the days leading up to the hurricane, your priests, Father Daniel, Father Richard, and I, kept you in our thoughts and prayed for your safety. As both the Governor of the State of Florida and the Mayor of Miami repeated frequently during their press briefings: “We can rebuild your homes, but we cannot rebuild you.” We thank God for answering our prayers, and we thank you for heeding the warning to keep yourself and your family safe.
Hurricane recovery is taking place and a sense of order is gradually replacing the turmoil of the storm. Slowly but surely, we are returning to the security and routine of daily life. Electrical power is being restored, businesses are reopening, and gas lines are diminishing. Hopefully, a normal way of life will come soon. We will get through this.
Our parish buildings endured the storm very well. There was no damage either to the church or to our parish school. There are a couple of roof and window leaks here and there but nothing that cannot be repaired easily. However, we lost several trees, uprooted by the winds of the storm. Other damage to plants and landscaping on the church property was incurred as well.
On Sunday, September 24th, there will be a second collection to help defray the cost of restoring the property to its pre-hurricane condition. This collection will also be an opportunity for parishioners to make up the weekly offering that was not collected due to the closing of church during the hurricane. I know I can count on your generosity.
Once again, we are grateful to the Lord for his goodness to us and for His Divine Providence in keeping us free from harm during Hurricane Irma. May he give all of us at Holy Rosary - St. Richard Church and School a renewed spirit, the faith to continue to build up His kingdom here on earth, and the grace and strength to serve Him as we serve one another in our beloved parish community.
Be assured of God’s enduring presence in the days ahead.
Father Sullivan, O.SS.T.

Reflection What has God revealed to you in your life? How does God’s Revelation give meaning to your life? What would help you to spend more time reading and praying over God’s revealed Word in Scripture?
How do you develop an intimate relationship with someone? Do you spend time with them, be present to them, give them your undivided attention, tell them of your desires, hopes and concerns, and listen to theirs? Do you desire to have such an intimate relationship with God?
If so, through the use of reason, we can learn much about God from both creation and our conscience, but God’s Revelation enables us to learn about God’s inner life and God’s plan to have an intimate and loving relationship with everyone, to save us from sin, and to share in God’s divine life. Revela-tion is God’s self-disclosure to us.
The process of Revelation took centuries to unfold. God gradually communicated the divine mystery by both words and deeds. Revelation reached its fulfill-ment in the life, death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, who is the human face of God for us, and God’s definitive Word. Revelation is transmitted to us through Scripture and Tradition.
We respond to God’s Revelation through faith and our ongoing conversion to the person and ways of Jesus Christ, and towards the realization of God’s
reign of unconditional—sacrificial love, justice, freedom, peace, joy, compassion, mercy, healing, forgiveness, and salvation in our time and place.
In many respects, the cultures in which we live are individualistic, secular, self-centered, and materialis-tic. This poses a challenge for us since we are asked to respond in faith to God who has revealed the Godself to us through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Each of us, together with other People of God—the Church—are called to bring the Gospel—the “Good News”—of God, God’s loving plan for salvation, and God’s reign into our cultures through the way we live, promote, and build upon what is good and positive in them, and seek to change what is not. To do this, we must first develop an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.
If Revelation is complete, what is the next step? *U.S. Catholic Catechism for Adults (“USCCA”), Ch. 2.
