The Silk Street Sinfonia is an unconducted chamber orchestra which was founded in 2013 by

students of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. It is formed of some of the most

talented young artists from the United Kingdom and Europe, many of whom are laureates

of numerous international competitions and all of whom enjoy busy careers as soloists,

chamber musicians and orchestral musicians. The Silk Street Sinfonia has a core of 12 string

players and expands their instrumentation depending on the repertoire being played. The

absence of a conductor gives light to the imaginative and expressive ways in which the

musicians work together and this makes each Silk Street Sinfonia concert a truly captivating

and inspiring experience for audiences of all ages. Having performed extensively within

London and the United Kingdom, the ensemble completed highly successful tours of

Switzerland in 2014 and 2015. The 2014/15 season included concerts in various venues in

London paving the way to the ensemble’s Cadogan Hall Debut in September 2015. Silk Street

Sinfonia’s debut CD, “Live in Switzerland” was released in December 2014 and is available

for sale at the ensemble’s performances and for online download from our website
