Blessing of Fathers

God and Father of all creation, we come before you today with humble hearts. You are our model of a loving father. When we fail and fall short of your expectations, you are always there at the end of the day with open arms, ready to heal the cuts and scrapes of the day and to encourage us to try again and not to give up. We hold up these men in our midst who act in the world as fathers to their children or models of fathers for others. Bless them in their moments of doubt and frustration with their children. Give them warm and open hearts to forgive failures. Provide them with the words needed for encouragement and perseverance. We ask all this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Second Collection: This week’s second collection June 17, 2018 will be for Parish Improvement "With every gift show a cheerful face, and dedicate your tithe with gladness.” 33 Days to Merciful Love: A Do-it-Yourself Retreat in Preparation for Consecration to Divine Mercy. It started Tuesday, June 5, at St. Joseph Parish Hall @ 7:00 pm. St. Anthony Mission Church: Located in Tiffany, CO. We would like to invite Parishioners from St. Joseph and Holy Trinity to join in celebrating our 4th Annual Feast of St. Anthony. This Church was built in 1928 and since relocating to area in 2012, my husband and I have celebrated the Feast of St. Anthony and have hosted a potluck lunch after Mass at our residence. We have been in touch with the Historical Society and are in the process of a full restoration of the church. We are very excited. On June 17th, Mass at 12:00 pm, at the Church, CR 321, Ignacio, CO. Potluck to follow at home of Delfin & Margaret Munoz Lucero, (caretakers) 550 CR 329, Ignacio, CO. Procedures for Baptism: you must start by getting paperwork from the office, take the class which is

held on the 1st Tuesday of each month, at 6:30 pm at the Parish Hall. Return the paperwork and make an appointment with Father David to set a date. If sponsors are from a parish other than St. Joseph or Holy Trinity they must provide a certificate showing that

they are Catholics in good standing and that they have taken the necessary pre-baptism classes. St. Joseph & Holy Trinity Annual Picnic: St. Jo-seph & Holy Trinity’s Parish Picnic will be held Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Minium Park in Aztec, behind Safeway. The picnic will begin with the 11:10 am Mass, which will be held at the park instead of St. Joseph Church. A potluck lunch will follow. The Church will provide the meat. Families with last names starting with A to M are request-ed to bring a side dish or salad. Families with last names beginning with N to Z are asked to bring fruit or dessert.

Offering Envelopes: We have called parishioners that are receiving the Sunday offering envelopes to ask if they are still interested in receiving envelopes in mail. We had a lot of the people ask us to remove them from the mailing list. We wish to thank all who support the parish. If you ever want to resume using the envelopes please let the office know and we will put on the list. The other option is on-line giving, call office for details. Thank you for your support.

Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time June 17, 2018

Homeschool Mass: During the months of June, July, and August, the homeschool Mass will be on the third Tuesday of the month only. Regular schedule of first and third Tuesdays will resume in September. VACATION TIME IS HERE: Before leaving on vacation please remember to call for a replacement for the days that you will not be available to fulfill your assigned duty in your ministry. The list of phone numbers are sent along with the schedule if your receive the your schedule by email. If your use the schedules that we put in the back of the church in the plastic holder marked “Minister’s Schedule,” they are on the back of the schedule. Thank you for all you do for your parish. Diocese of Gallup Requirements: The deadline in upon us to update your file, Please return all forms that you were mailed to those who’s files are incomplete and not in compliance with the Diocese of Gallup. These files are background checks, Virtus Training Certificates, Volunteer Application forms and Code of Ethics. If you need a Virtus Certificate, print the online report from your training screen. After signing in go to your screen then go to training bulletin report and print the third screen. This screen is the one needed for the files here and the Diocese. .Holy Communion and Confirmation Pictures: If you had pictures taken of your child for the Sacraments of Holy Communion or Confirmation you may pick up your pictures during office hours.

The Padre’s Portion Dear Brothers and Sisters; This is the time of the year when we celebrate Fathers’ Day. What a great day to celebrate! But, what do we cele-brate? Is the day to give Thanks for that person who is our biological father? Or, is it for the per-son who fills the shoes of our biological father; maybe a step father or a grandfather? What are the blessings of life that we receive from them? This is where we need to recall the word ‘fatherhood’. When a person lives the qualities of fatherhood, then we can most easily think of them as a ‘father’. The first time the Bible uses the word ‘father’ is in Gen 2:24. For the Lord’s Pray-er, we also know it as the Our Father. It has be-come more difficult to learn from our culture what fatherhood means. If we look at the father figure in the TV or movies, we have developed a very poor image of what a virtuous father truly is. Many times he is made fun of. Or, other experts dwarf his abilities.
