NEWS For Immediate Release Rye Bar & Southern Kitchen Joins Raleigh Downtown Farmers Market Chef Rigot to participate in opening ceremony of 2015 Raleigh Downtown Farmers Market Raleigh, N.C. (April XX, 2015) – Rye Bar & Southern Kitchen’s executive chef Michael Rigot will join a lineup of stellar local chefs at the opening celebration of the Raleigh Downtown Farmer’s Market on Wednesday, May 6. At the opening of the Farmer’s Market, Chef Rigot will be recognized as a leader of the downtown restaurant industry and will say a few words about his commitment to local and seasonal food and the effort he puts forth to support small farms. Located at City Plaza in downtown Raleigh, the market features the highest quality farmers and food artisans and promotes eating local. Vendors include North Carolina farmers, ranchers, fisherman, nurserymen, bakers, cheese makers and specialty food producers. The market is open every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Opening day will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6. At 11 a.m. all downtown chefs are invited to meet the farmers and sample spring produce. Raleigh Mayor, Nancy McFarlane will share a few words and ring the ceremonial bell to officially open the market season at noon. Following Mayor McFarlane’s remarks, the featured chefs will have the opportunity to say a few worlds about their restaurant and the local ingredients that they use. “We are honored to have been asked to participate in the opening of the local farmer’s market,” says chef Rigot. “I look forward to interacting with the public from outside of the kitchen while discussing local sourcing, meeting local farmers and sampling the new spring produce.” The Downtown Raleigh Alliance carefully selects and recruits farmers and vendors whose products are sustainably produced and of the highest quality. The goal of the Raleigh Downtown Farmers Market is foster a connection between the producer and the consumer. All of the goods sold at the market are grown by the vendor and produced in North Carolina.
