1. Start the transaction using the menu path or transaction code SM35.

Batch Input: Session Overview

When accessed initially, the screen displays all batches under . The other tabs display batches at various stages of processing. You can display specific batches by completing the following fields under ‘Selection criteria’:

Analysis of Session **************

The overview screen informs that there are a number of transactions in the batch. This screen allows you to investigate the individual transaction further. The Status column will be competed after the batch has been processed.

The Statistics section of the screen displays the total number of transactions and the number of errors if there are any.

Sessions and logs

A log is a history of how each transaction has been processed. It is possible to retain

the log and delete the session. To retain the log, click on . To delete the log

8. To view the statistics of a batch, select a batch from the Batch Input: Session Overview screen

and click on .

9.1 If you select the Process/foreground option, each screen is displayed as the batch processes. This enables changes to be made during processing. This selection also allows you to change processing options (from Process/foreground to Display errors only or Background) during the batch processing run.

A batch can contain numerous transactions. As each transaction is processed without error, SAP is updated. If a batch is cancelled, the remaining transactions are retained unprocessed.

To change processing options select System Services Batch Input Display errors only. You can select other options in this menu, either Restart transaction, Delete Transaction, Next Transaction (skips to next transaction) and also Cancel.

9.2 If you select Display errors only, only screens with errors will display during processing. This allows correction of errors. Correct errors by entering data in the

required fields. To continue click on .

9.3 If you select Background, the process runs until completion in the background. Data cannot be edited during background processing. Your screen is free for you to continue working in SAP while the batch processes.

If your batch is large this is the suggested method of processing, but remember to access the Log for errors at a later time.

9.4 Click on .

Information

Clicking on will return you to the SAP Easy Access front screen. Clicking on

takes you to the Batch Input: Session Overview screen.

10. To display the processing log, click on on the Batch Input: Session Overview screen.

This screen details the complete history of processing the batch selected.

Batches may be processed more than once. For example, if the first process identified errors, the errors can be corrected and the batch re-processed.
