A Better Future for Tetritskaro

This is a four-year project funded by the European Union that will contribute to the improvement of the quality of life in the Tetritskaro Municipality through the introduction of innovative social-economic methods.

Establishment of a Local Action Group (LAG) according to the EU LEADER approach, that will become functional entity and will contribute to the improvement of the quality of life in Tetritskaro municipality through continuous and integrated local development initiatives

Elaboration of community-driven local development strategy and action plan for Tetritskaro municipality

Creation of diversified economic opportunities in Tetritskaro by introducing entrepreneur-oriented financing mechanisms, employment models, and access to innovative environment friendly technologies

Tetritskaro Municipality

ENPARD is the European Neighborhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development in Georgia, and aims to reduce poverty in rural areas.

The LEADER approach relies on the European Experience of Rural Development, and is rooted in the belief that local people are the most informed about the problems and issues existing in their region. Through LEADER, local people are enrolled as the implementers – not just beneficiaries - of local development. Based on LEADER approach a Local Action Group (LAG) will be established in Tetritskaro municipality as a partnership between public, private and civil sectors.

What is ENPARD?

The Local Development Strategy is the long-term vision of Tetritskaro municipality that will be developed by LAG, and reflects priority areas for development of Tetritskaro municipality. Local grants will be awarded to achieve the strategy objectives.

What is a Local Action Group (LAG)?

In the frame of the project, a Tetritskaro LAG will be established, as a main instrument of LEADER approach. LAG is the platform to facilitate collaboration between public, private and civil sectors. It is an effective instrument to address rural problems and advocate for solutions. LAG members will elaborate local development strategy by analyzing challenges and capabilities of Tetritskaro municipality. The legal form of LAGs varies from country to country, but it's often a registered non-profit organization.

What is the Local Development Strategy?

This employment program assists community members to plan their careers and develop employment skills, that further facilitates their integration on the job market.

This training program educates community members about the most in-demand professions in the labor market, and helps people to learn and develop new skills for employment.

The Young Famer Centers (YFC) as an informal education opportunity assists youth to develop community engagement, leadership and entrepreneurial skills and introduces them with modern agricultural technologies.

Within the given initiative farmers of Tetritskaro municipality will be introduced to the innovative environment friendly agricultural technologies, they will acquire theoretical knowledge as well as practical skill trough the exchange visits on Demonstration Plots.

Anyone who lives or operates a business in Tetritskaro municipality can participate in the activities planned within the Project.

The project is implemented by RDFG with the financial support of the European Union, under the European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development in Georgia – ENPARD. The project partners are Agro-Technology Association (ATA), Lithuanian Local Action Groups Network (VVTG) and the Ministry of Agriculture of Lithuania.
