Structure of the academic year2011-2012:2 semesters:- Sem 1: start September 26th 13 weeks of classes and 4 weeks of exams

- Sem 2: start February 13th 13 weeks of classes and 5 weeks of exams

Holidays: 24/12-8/1 : Christmas Holiday4/2 – 12/2: course free week31/3 – 15/4: Easter Holiday

Structure of the academic year

3 examination periods:

1. 16/1/2012 – 4/2/20122. 11/6/2012 – 30/6/20123. 20/8/2012 – 08/9/2012

Announcement of the results :1. Mid february2. Between 2/7 and 7/7 (conditional)3. Between 10/9 and 14/9 (conditional)

After the announcement of the results, students have one week to ask for feedback and if necessary register an official complaint.

Course registration for exchange students

• Your Learning Agreement is the registration for the courses.

• The ISP is the registration for the courses at the K.U.Leuven

• Deadline for registration: beginning of October. • Hand in at faculty administration• NO Changes after the 12th of October

Individual Study Programme (ISP)

Compose your Individual Study Programme by:

• Flagging the check boxes of the desired courses• If needed, apply for exemptions or credits• If needed, apply for an exchange programme

Deadlines overview: ISP opens at 1th of September and closes at 12th of October. Changes can be made in the second semester from February 13th till February 29th.

Examination Schedule

The K.U.Leuven is implementing the advanced exam schedule. This means that at the start of the academic year, when you fill in your Individual Study Programme (ISP), you will know when you will have to do the exams of the courses you have selected.

The examination schedule is linked to your ISP. You will not be able to submit your ISP without registration of the examination data.

Examination Schedule

Opening of ISP: 1st of september (or once you are enrolled for 2011-2012)

• this step is only relevant for bachelor students

• master students have to wait for the next step

From 24th of september

• You can choose  courses and examination moments from your study phase (year).

• If your ISP is complete you can submit it

From 29th of september

• You can choose courses/exams from multiple study phases e.g. when you combine courses of 2 different years

• You can submit your ISP

Scheduled activities

• PAL- session: 28th of September at 6 pm (see next slide)

• Help with filling out the ISP: 4th of October at 12. am till 14.00 hr (200C.01.001) PC-room C + D

Information Session for master students• Master of Biology: 3/10 at 1 pm (institute of Botany and Microbiology 02.44)

• Master of Geography: 26/9 at 3 pm (200E 01.212)

• Master of Physics: 26/9 at 2 pm (200D 05.34)

• Master of Mathematics: individual session with programme director

• Master of Statistics: 26/9 at 3 pm (200B 00.16)

• Master of Molecular and Cellular Biophysics: individual session with programma director
