CME, SAMs, CE, CAMPEP available!
The RSNA Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting offers the most relevant, cutting-edge science, education, and technology in radiology and medical imaging of any meeting, anywhere in the world.
Quality counts. Courses, scientific abstracts, and education abstracts undergo rigorous review by committees of physicians and other experts.
RSNA 2009 offers a full menu of options —educational opportunities in every subspecialty and in many different formats, including case-based reviews, hands-on workshops, mentored cases, and self-study exhibits. Course tracks are organized so that you can personalize your experience and make the most of your time at the annual meeting.
I encourage you to register now for RSNA 2009.
Even though we all face challenges in today’s economic climate, the RSNA annual meeting is one event that should not be missed. Whether you specialize in chest imaging, emergency radiology, neuroradiol-ogy, or emerging areas such as quantitative imaging and biomarkers, or you have interest in strengthening your knowledge in areas outside of your primary specialty, RSNA has something for you—something that can help you remain a top performer in your field.
By being a part of RSNA 2009, you will set the standard for the future of our practice.
I look forward to seeing you in Chicago, November 29 – December 4.

RSNA 2009 Courses
Course Learning Objectives
1. Identify the application of basic anatomic, pathologic, and physiologic principles to specific disease processes and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
2. Apply the physics of particular imaging and therapeutic modalities to improve quality and efficacy while minimizing patient risk.
3. Analyze imaging and therapeutic techniques and apply this knowledge to protocol development, patient management/safety, and cost.
4. Demonstrate understanding of the influence of socioeconomic issues on current and future practice patterns.
5. Compare indications and contraindications of specific image-guided procedures.
Self-Assessment Modules (SAMs)
RSNA has submitted applications to the American Board of Radilogy (ABR) to offer a series of self-assessment modules to fulfill the ABR’s maintenance of certification (MOC) requirements. SAMs will be offered in a variety of subspecialties as well as in general content areas. Courses offered as SAMs are indicated by .
Advance online registration at RSNA.org/register is required for SAMs.
Fees: Member . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $0 Non-member U.S.-licensed physician . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $50 per SAM
Course Enrollment
Act promptly. Attendance at each session is limited to the room seating capacity. Internet enrollment occurs instantly, while faxed or mailed forms are processed in the order of receipt. Registrants enrolling in a complete categorical course, minicourse or update course will be given priority over registrants requesting a single session within a course. View the learning objectives and CME content codes for each course online at RSNA.org/register.
Each course and workshop is approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Credits vary based on length of course.

Hotel Reservations
Housing Deadline
November 6Hotel rooms are available only to registered individuals. Chicago offers a magnificent variety of accommodations and rates to satisfy every traveler. For RSNA 2009, we’ve secured more than 100,000 room nights at 78 downtown hotels offering the lowest rates in the city. Review the hotel profiles listed on pages 46-47, then follow the registration form instructions on page 50. In the event your hotel selections are no longer available, indicate which is most important:
• Cost of your room
• Location of your hotel
• Other (make note of your preference)
Benefits of reserving your room through the RSNA housing system:
• Support RSNA’s efforts to negotiate the best available hotel room rates
• Exclusive access to free shuttle transpor-tation to/from McCormick Place to/near contracted hotels
• Free Metra train service between McCormick Place and the Randolph Street stop with a special convention schedule
• Convenient registration and housing link through RSNA.org/register
Reservation ChangesPrior to November 6, contact Experient for hotel changes.
Name changes and/or swapping of room reservations is not allowed.
November 7–16
Reservations and deposits will be transferred from the housing bureau to the hotels and therefore cannot be altered during this period.
After November 16
Contact the hotel directly for date changes and room cancellations. Room availability and rates are at the hotel’s discretion.
Special Notes: Rates do not include a 15.4% Chicago hotel tax (subject to change). A service fee has been included in your room rate to defray the cost of registration and to provide complimentary shuttle service to and from McCormick Place.
Please note: To uphold the professional and educational standards of the RSNA annual meeting, children under 16 years of age are not permitted in the exhibit hall or sessions. Please call the hotel to determine if child care services are available. To take advantage of Camp RSNA for childcare, go to RSNA2009.RSNA.org for registration information.
Hostelling International — ChicagoThe Chicago hostel offers lodging in dormitory-style rooms with separate accommodations for men and women. Rooms range in size from 6–12 beds. Bathrooms and shower facilities are plentiful, with many available in the dorm rooms as well as down the hall. Individual lockers are provided in each room, and luggage storage is also available. Please bring your own lock for the lockers or purchase a lock at the front desk. All guests receive bed linens, towel, and pillow. A 1-night deposit of $40 is required. Please adjust the deposit amount on the Advance Registration and Housing form.
Changes made after November 6 and/or up to 7 days prior to date of arrival that result in a reduction of total room nights will incur a $50 fee charged by the hotel.
Changes in arrival and departure dates made less than 1 week prior to arrival that result in a reduction of nights stayed may be considered cancellations by the hotel and may result in forfeiture of partial or all deposits paid.
Early departure results in the hotel retaining the fee for a 1-night stay plus tax or the last night’s room deposit of $150, whichever is less.
Failure to check in at the hotel on your scheduled arrival day will result in forfeiture of your reservation and hotel deposit. The hotel will accommodate you on a space-available basis.
Room CancellationsWritten requests for room cancellations and full deposit refunds must reach Experient by November 6.
Reservations canceled after November 6, 2009, and/or up to 7 days prior to date of arrival will incur a $50 cancellation fee.
Cancellations received less than 7 days prior to date of arrival will result in forfeiture of the full $300 deposit.
When canceling your room reservation directly with the hotel:
• Note the date and time of your call
• Document the name of the person with whom you spoke
• Obtain a cancellation number
The hotel information provided on the following page is based on single occu-pancy. Type of bed (single, double, twin) may be requested but cannot be confirmed until check-in. Suites are available upon request. Contact Experient at 1-800-650-7018 or 1-847-996-5876 for triple and quad rate information.
A first and last night room deposit totaling $300 is required when a hotel is requested. If you plan to arrive after 6:00 pm, contact the hotel for a late check-in.
