Louisiana Resilience and Recovery Symposium – December 8th

• Held December 8, 2016 at LITE Center in Lafayette

• Provided attendees the opportunity to hear from and dialogue with both peers and subject matter experts.

• Provided information about regional and state watershed management and other resilience methods

• Provided more specifics on how the State recovery structure and alignment NDRF and establishing the Restore Task Force

• Over 26 sponsors supported the event

• Total of 215 attended, including:• 18 different parishes were represented with 55 persons attending• 70 persons attended from different state agencies and partners• Business professionals from varies for‐profit organizations and companies

In the afternoon, small breakout sessions include the following topics:

The Louisiana Housing and Resiliency Symposium, the second in a statewide series addressing recovery issues as a result of the 2016 floods.

The event focused on best practices in providing affordable housing through partnerships with non‐profits, developers and financial institutions; aid in leaders in decisions to address and create a more resilient and sustainable community.  

Symposiums provided updates on the state’s recovery programs to address the impact of the floods, such as the Housing Rehabilitation Program for homeowners; and several programs designed for renters and landlords to increase the availability of affordable housing units in the state.
