Baby Room

The Baby Room has been filled with fresh faces these last 2 months, with lots of new bubs joining the CELC family. The Baby Room

educators & bubs have been getting to know our new babies while building friendships and helping them to settle in. The Baby Room

has recently been focusing on the ‘Australia’ theme with some beach inspired play and their “pool” ball pit. They have also been

exploring Indigenous Australian culture through Aboriginal inspired art and foot & hand print art.

Toddler Room

The Toddler Room has been very busy this month with lots of hands on learning & activities. For January the Toddler Room explored an Australian theme, enjoying interactive play areas such as their ‘Australia Day Picnic’ which included lamingtons, Aussie music, inflatable beach balls and flags. The

Toddlers also enjoyed plenty of Indigenous Australian inspired art & craft activities such as Aboriginal flag painting & pasting, kangaroo dot painting and making their own boomerangs. The Toddlers

further explored aspects of Chinese culture during the Chinese New Year celebration, and had great fun making Chinese New Year lanterns with Rowena and participating in a special dragon dance. This

month the Toddlers are focusing on a Farm Animal theme due to the children's interest & recent visits to farms in the area. They have been loving the sensory pits & activities for this theme, with

tubs filled with grass, dirt and hay with animal figurines. They had a ball playing in Taylah’ s Muddy Pig sensory activity which involved brown shaving cream and pig toys. The Toddlers have been

practicing their farm animal names & noises for the next time they visit another farm!

Kindi Room

The Kindi Room has been full of excitement this past 2 months! The Kindi kids have been having an absolute ball with their recent Australian theme, with their

interactive beach & fishing play areas being a big hit. This interactive corner included inflatable toys, beach towels and beach chairs to relax on. The Kindi kids

were able to contribute to the set up of this area by making their own boats to decorate the wall with.

The Kindi kids also enjoyed discussing the fun they had during the Summer holidays and incorporating this in their imaginative play areas.

The Kindi Room has recently moved on to the theme of ‘Self Identity’. The children have learnt a lot about themselves and others through this topic by

discussing different body parts, family members, and with identity inspired play such as making faces out of playdough. The self identity station has been very popular which included big mirrors which the children could use to draw a self

portrait.

Kinder Room

The Kinder Room has been full of intentional learning this month, as the first term of the Kindergarten program begins. To kick off the term

the Kinder kids celebrated Australia month and learnt various aspects of the Indigenous culture. They also looked at maps of Australia & studied the Australian flag. The Kinder Room also used this time to focus on an ‘All About Me’ program to help educators & children to get to know one other and settle in comfortably to our

exciting 2020 program.

During February the Kinder Room has enjoyed animal inspired activities for Pet month, with incursions with Paws with a Cause discussing the importance of Service

dogs, Better Life for Bunnies to discuss care for rabbits, and the Responsible Pet Ownership program. The Kinder Room educators have used ‘intentional teaching’* to teach the children the importance of safety around dogs. They were able to put

all their pet knowledge into practice with new play areas: the Vet & Grooming Corners.

FUN EVENTS IN JAN & FEB! This January & February the Centre has had a very eventful few weeks, with loads of fun

activities! We especially want to thank all those involved with our Australia Month: Paws with a Cause incursion. Better Life for Bunnies incursion & Responsible Pet Ownership incursion.

New Centre Update

The new centre is going up quickly, and we are all so excited! The final floor is now up and the

walls are beginning to be built. Things such as carpet and colour schemes have been chosen, and

new resources are going to be ordered soon! We are hoping to move in during June in time for

Winter.

ChildCarers App! We were very excited to introduce the ‘ChildCarers’ app to all our families with CELC to allow you to

better communicate with your child’s educators and have more access to your child's day. We are in

the process of loading new parents into our system to give you access to this app. If you have not yet

received a welcome email, or have any questions about this app, please send an email to

office@croydonearlylearning.com.au and we will get back to you ASAP.

We are currently in the process of employing new staff members for our new Centre. We are excited to introduce them to you, and help you get to know them through our staff profile

segment.

Kim Seymour

Belinda Cabibbo

Kim is our latest member to join the CELC team. She has her certificate 4 in Patisserie and her certificate 3

in commercial cookery. Kim has been in the hospitality business for 10 years and is currently working in the

Kitchen as our professional cook. Kim will work Monday– Friday so if you see her around please introduce yourself! Kim is interested in working

towards becoming a teacher in community based cooking classes. Kim currently lives with her fiancé, 3

year old daughter and beloved husky Lokie. She operates a mini dessert business from home and likes

to spend the summer at the beach on her Jet Ski.

Staff Profile!

Belinda is a new CELC staff member in the Toddler Room. Belinda currently has her Certificate III in Early

Childhood and is starting her Diploma studies soon. She works with the Toddlers on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday

and Friday. She has had 7 years experience working with children and hopes to build on her skills in the

childcare industry. Belinda likes walking tracks, swimming and spending time with friends & family.
