The last 2 weeks have been eventful. Our House Sports and Athletics Days

were enjoyed by all on our fantastic oval! A big thank you to Mr Hero and

Mr Layley for their organisation of these events. Our Grade 5 students had a

great Wellness Wow day last Wednesday and our Grade 1 students enjoyed

their visit to Animal Land Children’s Farm. Last but not least, everyone en-

joyed ‘Pink Stumps Day’ last Friday, which was organised by Junior School

Council to raise money for a very worthy cause, the McGrath Breast Cancer

Foundation. Congratulations to our raffle winners.

By now some parents, who were randomly selected by the Department,

would have been invited to participate in a Parent Opinion Survey. If you

received a Parent Opinion Survey last week, can you please take the time to

fill it in and return it to the school by this Friday, 9th August. If you need as-

sistance in filling in the survey, please see our office staff. Our Multicultural

Education Aides are also available to assist you with any translation needs.

2020 Planning With Term 3 nearly half way over, we have begun planning for 2020 staffing and classroom numbers. In order to assist us with this process, can parents/carers please inform us as soon as possible if your children will NOT be attending Roxburgh Rise Primary School in 2020. Please speak to our office staff or your classroom teacher or send a message via a letter or through Compass. This information is vital for our 2020 forward planning.

It is with great pleasure that I announce that last week

Mrs Kim Carroll gave birth to her second daughter, Isla

Rose. Both mum and baby are doing well!

We wish them all the best and look forward to meeting the new addition to the Carroll family.

On Friday we say goodbye to Lan Nguyen, who will be taking parental leave as she awaits the arrival of her 2nd baby. We wish Lan a smooth delivery and look forward to the happy announcement. Regards,

Student

Attitudes To School Survey

RESULTS ARE IN!

Last term, all Grade 4, 5 and 6 students were

asked to complete the Department of

Education’s Attitudes to School Survey. Once

again, we are very pleased with the results.

90% of RRPS students said they are happy

to be at our school. Generally, our students

have a strong sense of belonging. They are

also resilient, with 88% of students saying

they try again when they don’t succeed and

84% believe they can recover in a short time

when something bad happens.

97% of our students think their parents

believe that going to school is important

and 94% of our students believe they try

very hard at school. 90% of students think

their teachers care about them. 95% of our

Grade 4, 5 and 6 students believe they have

friends at Roxburgh Rise. 92% of students

believe it is okay to be different at this

school.

The average percentage of students

experiencing bullying in Australia is 25%.

15% of our students report having been

bullied at school. 5% have experienced

bullying on social media (cyberbullying).

90% of our students know where to get help

if they feel bullied and 84% think the school

deals fairly with bullying problems. 87% of

RRPS students feel safe at RRPS. Please let

us know, or encourage your child to let us

know, if bullying is occurring.

Our Attitudes to School Survey results are

very consistent over the years. Every year,

we have staff working hard to ensure our

students feel safe, valued and happy.

When particular results are low, they stand

out. We know we need to continue working

hard on helping our students have more of a

voice in the things they learn, with only 78%

of students believing they have a say in the

things they learn.

Please contact Susan, Student Wellbeing if

you would like further information.

On Wednesday the 31st July the Grade 5 students engaged in an incursion focusing on their

inquiry topic ‘Healthy Living’. Students learnt about healthy lifestyles and participated in yoga,

meditation and mindfulness, physical activity, building healthy relationships and healthy

cooking.

The pizza was so good. It was amazing. I learnt that it is basically easy to make a pizza with healthy toppings like capsicum and mushrooms — Cameron Spargo 5E

On the 31st of July we had an incursion on Healthy Living. My favourite part of WOW day was making pizza. The pizza was that good it tasted better than Dominoes. — Elia Waqa 5B

On the 31st of July 2019 the grade fives had an incursion about ‘Healthy Living’. One of the activities for the incursion was making healthy pizzas with some different types of vegetables. We had the choice to add what vegetables we liked to our pizza. The pizza made you feel like you were in heaven. — Rinaldo Jibreal 5B

I enjoyed making banana and strawberry smoothies to eat with my healthy pizza. It tasted so good and healthy. — Adem 5E
