Why Containment Piping• Engineered to contain fluids within the piping system so leaks are safely controlled and detected.

• Complete Above and Below Ground Systems prevent materials being transferred from endangering personnel or contaminating the soil, ground water, or air.

• Systems are designed so leaks can be detected, easily located, drained and repaired quickly.

Built To Your Specifications• A variety of outer jacket options including Fiberglass, Schedule 40 PVC, 10 gauge steel conduit with Red Mil (Above Ground) and 10 gauge steel conduit with 20 mils of fusion bonded Rhinocoat® epoxy coating (Below Ground).

• Several carrier pipe options are available including black steel pipe, stainless steel, PVC schedule 40/80 solvent weld and fiberglass. Other options available based on requirements.

• Can be manufactured with more than one inner pipe when several products are being conveyed to the same location. Multiple carrier pipes can be made of different materials.

• Available with heat tracing components integrated into

the system.

• Leak Detection & Monitoring via Continuous Wire

System allows for pinpoint location of leaks. Low Point

Sumps offer leak detection at intervals.

• Rovanco can also pre-insulate your containment pipes.

Above/Below Ground Double Containment Piping By RovancoRovanco’s Containment Piping Systems are engineered and manufactured to meet and/or exceed today’s

safety and regulatory requirements.

Rovanco has designed its containment line of products so each system

can be customized to meet a project’s precise requirements. While

approximately 75% of the fluids/gases requiring containment pipe can be

transported using Rovanco’s PVC or Steel systems, carrier pipes made

of stainless steel, fiberglass and other materials are also available. A

variety of standard outer jacketing options are also available, including

NOV’s fiberglass material, Bonstrand® 3000L, Red Thread II A and Green

Thread.

When fluids being transferred are required to maintain a constant

temperature range, Rovanco’s Heat Trace system is the solution.

Rovanco can pre-insulate your containment piping system at the factory

with its proprietary Insul-8 foam or any number of other insulation materials.

Regardless of the number of carrier pipes, special supports are positioned

every 10 feet on every Containment System. These supports guide and

strengthen the carrier pipes as well as allow the carrier pipes to expand

and contract without over-stressing the pipe & fittings.

Rovanco Containment Piping Systems are precisely constructed using

the best materials and expert craftsmanship. Whether its an Above

Ground or Below Ground system, you are assured Rovanco’s

thousands of miles of experience is engineered into every inch of

containment pipe you receive.

STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR CONTAINMENT PIPING SYSTEMSFor complete and more detailed specifications, please contact the Rovanco factory

Carrier Pipe:PVC: Schedule 40/80 solvent weld. Otherclasses and schedules of PVC pipe areavailable.

Type (K) or (L): Hard Drawn Copper Tubingconforming to ASTM B-88.

Fiberglass:Bondstrand 3000L, Red Thread II A orGreen Thread conforming to ASTM D2996.

Inner Pipe Supports:All pipe shall be aligned and supported with-in the outer casing with nonmetallic pipesupports spaced on approximately every 10'

0" which are designed to allow free air andfluid movement within the containment pipe. The supports will be designed and spacedto carry the weight of the carrier pipe full offluid with a 50% safety factor while allowingthe carrier pipe to expand and contract.Concrete type pipe supports will not beallowed.

Outer Containment Casing:PVC: The outer casing shall be Schedule 40PVC conforming to ASTM 1785.

Fiberglass: Filament wound fiberglass pipeconstructed of continuous glass fibers in amatrix of aromatice amine cured epoxy resin.

Steel: Outer casing shall be black steel.Casing up through 24" shall be 10 gauge.Casing 26" and larger shall be 6 gauge. The exterior surface will be coated with a twocoat Fusion Bonded Epoxy system. The firstcoat will be green finish coat with a meltingpoint of 500˚F. No glasswrap or filler materi-als shall be used in the epoxy. All exteriorconduit surfaces shall beshotblasted prior to the coating beingapplied.

No asphalt, coal tar coating, FRP casing orany other type will be allowed.

The second layer will be compatible FusionBonded Epoxy coating. This layer of FusionBonded Epoxy will be applied no later than 5seconds after the first layer. The secondlayer must have an impact resistance of atleast 160 lbs. per square inch as per ASTMG14-72. The coatings will be applied in atotal thickness of not less than 20 mils. Thecoating system will be equal to RovancoPiping Systems-Rhinocoat™. Epoxy shallconform to these ASTM standard: ASTMD1763, ASTM G17, ASTM, D1044, ASTMD2370, ASTM G14, ASTM G8, ASTM D968,ASTM D1002, ASTM D659, ASTM D257, ASTMD1000, ASTM G53, ASTM B117.

For above ground applications, the steelcasing, fitting covers and closure joints willbe hot dipped galvanized coated.

Fittings:PVC: Shall be factory pre-fabricated PVC, thesame thickness as the containment casing.

Steel: All changes in direction shall be madewith bent or weld fittings. Where teebranches are smaller than the mains theyjoin, weld-o-lets may be used. All fittingsshall be the same wall thickness asadjacent piping.

Fiberglass: All fittings will be filamentwound, heavy duty, bell & spigot type with a.020 interior liner in conformance with MII-P28584A and MIL-P22245A. 90˚ elbows willbe long radius only.

Anchors:Steel: Anchors shall be pre-fabricated ontothe piping units and shall be equipped withdrainage and vent openings at the top andbottom of the anchor plate. Anchor platesshall be made of 1/2" steel plate.

Fiberglass: FRP pipe should be joined tosteel systems inside buildings with flanges. All steel systems should be anchored withinfive feet of connection point to eliminate anythrust, stress, or torque from the steel pipebeing transferred to the FRP. Steel flangesshould be 150# flat faced.

End Seals:PVC: Fernco Cap

Steel: Terminal ends inside manholes, pits,or building walls shall be equipped with endseals consisting of a steel bulkhead platewelded to the pipe conduit. End seals shallbe made of 1/2" steel plate with drain or ventopenings located diametrically oppositeon thevertical center line of the mounting plate andshall beshipped to the job site with plugs inplace. Terminate containment 2 inchesbeyond the inside face of building walls toprotect any exposed piping from damp wallcondensation.

Fiberglass: Terminal ends of containmentinside manholes, pits, or building wall shallbe equipped with end seals.

Steel: The inner pipes of this system shall betested hydrostatically to 1 1/2 times theworking pressure of the line. If a leak is

found, it shall be repaired and the testrepeated. The outer casing shall be testedwith air at 15 psig and a soap solution shallbe applied to the field joints to locate leaks. If leaks occur, they shall be repaired and thetest repeated. After approved by test, all fieldjoints shall be coated by the contractor. Before backfilling, the contractor shall testthe containment coating with an electric hol-iday detector. Any breaks in the coating sys-tem will be repaired and the test repeated bythe contractor.
