Advanced Line of Routing Switchers for Larger Applications
Platinum Routing SwitchersThe Platinum™ line of routing switchers
combines a highly robust architecture with
the flexibility required to future-proof your
investment, delivering unsurpassed value
for your larger routing needs. Designed to
support high-quality routing for 24/7
operation, Platinum routing switchers are
well-suited to network, local broadcaster,
mobile production, cable, telco, military,
government and corporate applications —
any environment that requires routing of a
large number of signals.
The Platinum™ line provides
high-quality signal routing
up to 256x256 in 15RU and
512x512 in 28RU.
Supporting a mixture of
almost any type of signal
within the same frame (i.e.,
analog stereo audio, AES,
analog video, SDI, ASI, HD-
SDI, etc.), Platinum™
combines wide-bandwidth,
multi-rate routing with built-in
optional conversion of analog signals on
input and/or output modules. The built-in
conversion also enables the user to route
to/from one type of signal to another
without the addition of external processing.
Higher ReliabilityPlatinum routing frames are designed for
harsh operation (including mobile truck
environments), and feature front-loading,
hot-swappable modules for ease of
serviceability. Employing the latest
technology, Platinum™ allows more
functionality at lower power consumption,
and is supported by redundant, load-sharing
power supplies. Airflow is from front to back,
with each fan individually replaceable without
taking the system off-line.
For further reliability, Platinum™ I/O modules
support either eight inputs or eight outputs,
thereby limiting the number of signals
affected by any one module. With Platinum,™
complete signal paths can be made
redundant, and our software allows for
manual or automatic rerouting of signals in
the event of a failure. Each Platinum™ frame
supports redundant control and sync
modules. In addition, Platinum™ supports the
Leitch Command Control System (CCS™),
which is designed such that no external
controller is required, eliminating yet another
single point of failure in your system.

Leitch Command Control System™ (CCS™) - New desk and rack-mount hardware-based control panels
- Enhancements to award-winning CCS Navigator™ application
Secure access rights with restrictions by level, source and
destination CCS™ protocol, SNMP and third-party protocol support
Enhanced Control and MonitoringThe Platinum™ distributed control system is
unique in the industry in that it requires no
separate, centralized controller. Each
Platinum™ frame features redundant control
modules that store configuration information
related to that frame in non-volatile memory
and contain all the information that frame
needs to operate within a system. A
complete failure of both modules —or of the
complete frame — would only affect the
signals in that frame. The rest of the system
would continue to operate. In addition,
communications from control panels and
applications do not have to be brought to a
centralized controller, thereby enhancing the
ability to widely distribute systems and
removing another single point of failure.
Enhancements to traditional routing
control include secure access rights with
level, source and destination restrictions per
user; tie-line management; and timed
events, allowing distributed events to occur
simultaneously. Platinum™ offers native
support for all legacy Leitch router
protocols, CCS PROTOCOL (protocol
common to all Leitch processing product
lines) and SNMP. Drivers are also available
to interface to most common third-party
routers and/or control systems.
Platinum routing switchers are supported
by an extensive line of Leitch applications,
protocol interfaces and control panels,
including several new hardware-based
control panels applicable to control and
monitoring of routing, as well as other
product lines. In addition, the award-
winning CCS Navigator™ application, which
provides user-configurable GUIs applicable
to complete facility-wide control and
monitoring, has been extended with
several router-specific enhancements.

Frame FeaturesThe Panacea™ family of routers is available in
1RU and 2RU frame sizes. With a
5.25”/13.3cm deep frame architecture
that provides both front and rear rack
attachment capabilities, Panacea™ allows for
complementary front-racked distribution
equipment in the same rack space, as well
as more flexible systemization.
Both frame sizes include a power supply, a
logic control module, a serial control port

Panacea™ Lite 1RU
Panacea Clean Switch provides two
continuous, error-free, clean outputs for HD-
SDI and SDI signals. Our unique data-buffering
scheme eliminates picture roll and encoder
“hiccups” by synchronizing the router sources.
This ensures the switch between sources is
frame-aligned without any disrution in the
output video signal stream.
Panacea Discrete Quiet Switch can be
combined in the same frame with Panacea
Clean Switch to provide two synchronous
and quiet digital audio streams. Again, a
data-buffering scheme is used to eliminate
pops, clicks and speaker “thud.” By frame-
aligning the switch and providing audio-level
ramping with a cross-fade mix, Panacea
Discrete Quiet Switch guarantees noise-free
switching between loud and soft audio
content. In addition, Panacea Discrete Quiet
Switch can be ordered in a standalone frame
to provide four synchronous and quiet digital
audio streams with the same ramping and
cross-fade features.
Panacea™ Clean and Quiet Switch

clean and quiet outputs for SDI and HD-SDI
signals with embedded audio, along with
additional auxiliary buses to be used for utility
routing. This unique feature permits routing
of SDI and HD-SDI signals simultaneously in
an HD-SDI wideband version of the clean
switch, allowing full use of your clean switch
investment while transitioning from SDI to
HD-SDI. The two copies of both clean outputs
can be combined with flexible partitioning
options of the 16 inputs to fit any multi-
format application.
Auxiliary Output Busses Six auxiliary outputs are available for preview of
both clean outputs, as well as additional
outputs for secondary destinations.

Suited to a wide variety of PC-based
control applications, the Windows®-based
RouterWorks® provides simple control and
monitoring of any size routing switcher.
RouterWorks® offers single-bus, multi-bus
and matrix views to combine the flexibility
of the most powerful hardware control
panel with the simplicity of a graphical user
interface. Wild database mapping allows

you from the physical restraints of hardware
crosspoint matrices and levels.
Web Access — Browser ControlProvides secure access to router control and
status via any Internet-enabled device
through standard Web browsers (Internet
Explorer,™ Netscape™ and Mozilla™). Web
Access frees users from being “in the
office,” while freeing facilities from the need
to add external devices for remote control.
In addition to the single-bus or multi-bus GUI-
based control panel views, Web Access offers
panel configuration settings and terminal access
to status, configuration and alarm verification,
and secures user access control with defined
user and administrator access levels.
All switch commands are logged with time,
date and initiator notes, for offering cost-
effective system monitoring and cataloging.
Logging can be downloaded as a file or
viewed online.
RouterMapper® — FreeConfiguration SoftwareThe free RouterMapper® software provides
a graphical configuration utility for
configuring your routing system. Its easy-
to-use, drag-n-drop interface allows you to
partition your matrices, assign source and
destination names, and assign specific
functionality to buttons on your control
panels. RouterMapper® can also be used to
easily configure tie-lines between multiple
frames in a distributed routing environment.
CCS Navigator™ is an innovative software
application that provides advanced tools for
creating customizable GUIs (Graphical User
Interfaces) that simplify your operations. Whether
you are creating GUIs for use with Routing, Master
Control, Quality Assurance (QA) Stations, Control
and Monitoring, Network Management or other
applications, CCS Navigator™ reduces the
complexity of everyday actions to simple point-
and-click operations. It also provides graphical
feedback of status and monitoring tailored to your

Seamless Integration
Many system opportunities today require
interoperability between different
manufacturers’ router systems within
existing facility designs. End users very often
favor one manufacturer’s control system
over another. Also, end users often have
another manufacturer’s routing system in
place and are simply looking to expand
current routing capabilities.
Edge is a 1RU device that acts as a bridge
between Leitch XY router protocols and
other third-party router control/monitoring
protocols. Edge is distinguished from existing
Leitch SPTs (Serial Protocol Translators) in that
it can support third-party TCP/IP protocols as
well as serial protocols. Many system designs
require Harris router control panels to
manage third-party routers. Other system
designs require Harris routers to be controlled
by third-party router control panels. The Edge
provides support for the Thomson/Grass
Valley Group SMS-7000 protocol and the
Utah routing protocol. Please check our
website for information on future protocol
support releases.

Specialty Routing in NEO™ Advanced Applications Platform
The NEO™ NSM switches can be connected into a Leitch XY router control network. This provides intuitive
control by means of any push-button XY control panel. All modules in the NEO™ family can be controlled
locally by means of an intuitive card-edge interface, or remotely using hardware control panels and/or
CCS™ software applications such as CCS Pilot™ or CCS Navigator.™
NEO™ NSM-8X1SHD, NSM-7X2SHD — HDTV/SDI SwitchersThe NSM-8x1SHD and NSM-7x2SHD are two distinct and separate digital video routingswitchers that switch both SDI and HDTV signals. The NSM-8x1SHD operates either as an 8x1switch or as an 8x1 with auto-sensing input signal selection capabilities. When in the 8x1auto-switch-over mode, this module will automatically switch to a user-selected backupchannel if the signal is lost on the primary path. The NSM-7x2SHD is configured to operateas a 7x2 routing switcher.
NEO™ NSM-8X1V, NSM-7X2V — Video SwitchersThe NSM-8x1V and NSM-7x2V are two distinct, separate routing switchers that switchanalog video signals. The NSM-8x1V can be user-configured to operate as an 8x1 switch oras an 8x1 with auto-sensing input signal selection capabilities. When in the 8x1 auto-switch-over mode, this module will automatically switch to a user-selected backup channel if thesignal is lost on the primary data path.
