Annual Car Show—Sept
16
Next cruise-in will be Sept
8 @ Route 66 Hotel
Next member meeting
Sept 13 @ Fritz's
Mystery Cruise will be
Sept 20
I guess the news this month could come under the headline “Welcome Route 66 Cruisers Car Club.”
We have a new sponsor, The Route 66 Hotel & Conference Center. They have wel-comed us with open arms and are eager for us to have our monthly cruise-ins at the hotel. We’ll get extra parking spaces and the restaurant will crank out the food and beverages for our delight. It only seems appropriate that our club be affiliated with another “Route 66” entity.
And, since we’re talking Route 66, the Village of Sherman has also welcomed us.
Our car show this September 16th will be at the Sherman Village Park…appropriately
on old Route 66. The Village is eager to have us and they look forward to our show
as an annual event.

President's Message
Hello Rt 66 Cruisers, We have made some changes of which you need to be aware. We will NO longer be conducting cruise-ins at Hardees'. All future cruise-ins will be at the Rt 66 Hotel & Con-ference Center South 6th Street. They are a new sponsor for our car club, replacing Har-dees. The new sponsor was approved by the entire Rt 66 Car Club Board at the last board meeting. We are now prepared to do our car show in full fashion.
Upcoming car club events are:
A NEW cruise-in at the Rt 66 Hotel on September 8th from 5:30 to 8:30PM. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be available to purchase from an outside grill.
Our Car Show is on Sunday, September 16 from 8AM to 4PM. Remember our car show is in Sherman, IL. at the new Sherman Community Park. It is on the West side of Old Route 66. Hope to see you at both events!
Next members meeting is September 13 at Fritz's on MacArthur. Come early and enjoy a good meal before the meeting!

Cruise-in @ Hardee's
Volume 7, Issue 7
The August 11 Hardees Cruise
-in (the last Hardee's cruise-in
we will have) was a success.
Once again, Mother Nature
blessed us with a beautiful
evening. We had 67 cars on
display. Our Poker Walk was
won by Peggy Neal and the
worst hand was Arlene
Flury’s . Don't forget to get your card at the next cruise-in. It is free to play. Prizes are awarded
for best and worst hand. Larry Flesner was the lucky winner of the 50/50 drawing. Our next
cruise-in is at Route 66 Hotel Sept 9 5:30—8:30. Between the door prizes, Poker Walk and
50/50, maybe you can be our next winner!!!

2018 Annual Car Show
Everything is all set for our 5th annual car show this September 16th, 2018. This year it will be
held at Sherman Village Park. Signs will be set out to direct you. Watch for the car show ush-
ers who will direct you where to park.
Registration will be open from 9:00 a.m.—12:00 p.m.. Remember, the first 100 registrants will
receive a free t-shirt. The registration fee is $20. Judging will begin at 12:00 and trophies will
be awarded after all tabulations are complete (approx. 4:00 p.m).
There are a lot of great door prizes that will be issued throughout the day. If your name is
called, you will draw a number and the prize that is assigned that number will be yours. We
will have a 50/50 drawing, there will be a live band and a great concession for food and snacks.
Let’s cross our fingers for good weather. Come out and join us for a great day!
Good Luck to all participants.

Car Show & Cruise-in Etiquette
We all love showing off our cars, right? Here's a few “rules of the road” that we can share!
1. Please don't touch the cars. Buttons and belt buckles and rings can scratch, food and drink can dribble, but we want them to look and admire! If you have folks that are interested in looking at your car, please be polite when telling them to not touch, but also tell them about your car, why you love it, and invite ques-tions. Be patient. The more they know, the more likely they are to become life-long car lovers, and we want more of those!
2. Be available for questions and comments. Share your love of classics!
3. Offer real advice and be helpful! We all have mysteries that sometimes need an additional brain – or a committee – to figure out. And the “newbies” sometimes need what the old timers have already learned. It's okay to ask questions – and to receive polite answers.
4. Be respectful of others. We all have different tastes – and different wallets.
5. Watch, look, and listen. Step aside if someone wants to take a picture. You may show up on the cover of a rotogravure!
6. Control your own pets and children. Make sure that your pets use designated areas, and clean up after them. Teach your children to be respectful of the cars and owners.
7. If you want a choice spot, get there early! Parking officials need to fill up the lot – most know to leave
enough room for doors and set up. Come with your friends, if possible, so that you can park together. And
if you know that you will be leaving early, park closer to the exit, to limit the risk of bumping corners or peo-
ple.
8. Let the judges judge. They only have so much time to judge each car: distracting them will not get you ex-
tra points.
9. Abide by the judges' decision. Congratulations if you win the top prize! If you suspect foul play, next time
don't play in their sandbox.
10. You are a guest of the host of the show. How you act reflects on your club, as well as yourself. We want our
shows to continue, and we all would like to be invited again next year!
