#NPLNSWCLUB WELCOME

Welcome to round two of the National Premier Leagues New South Wales Men’s

competition match between your Bonnyrigg White Eagles and neighbouring Marconi Stallions.

The top tier in men’s football returns to Bonnyrigg Sports Ground again in a special year for the club, as we celebrate our 50th anniversary.

What better way to begin this special year than with a game against one of Australia’s most famous football clubs, Marconi.

We wish the Stallions the very best in 2018 and their return to the competition.

The White Eagles would like to thank Major Sponsor Gentle Dentle Care, Diamond Sponsors Bonnyrigg Sports Club, Orthodox Funerals, Vesti Digital, Krispy Crème, Mini-Crete Concrete and the rest of our large sponsorship pool for their contribution and support for the 2018 season.

We would also like to thank our loyal fans who have continued to support their club over the last 50 marvellous years.

Bonnyrigg White Eagles board and supporters also send their condolences to club-captain Ray Miller who tragically lost his father only a day before last week’s game, completing the full 90 minutes in his honour.

NPLNSW.COM.AU 1ST GRADE MATCH PREVIEW

1ST GRADE - NPL NSW MEN’S

Bonnyrigg White Eagles hope their first home game of the season can kick start their 2018

campaign after a Round 1 loss.

It will be a huge day for the club as they will be celebrating its 50th year anniversary that evening so a win for the club and its past heroes will be what Brian Brown will be looking for in front of what should be a healthy crowd.

They take on local rivals Marconi Stallions who are riding high after their first National Premier Leagues NSW win after being relegated in 2015.

The White Eagles dominated for most of their round 1 clash and will feel they should’ve taken more away from the contest.

One player that made an impression against the Blues was the club’s new South Korean signing in Jewook Woo who will be the man to watch on Sunday.

Their performance proves they are not far off from where they need to be to compete with the top teams.

Marconi on the other hand will be riding the momentum from their win against Sydney United 58 and will be an improved side after their first hit out.

Coach Peter Tsekenis will once again be urging his troops to win at all costs and its that mentality that has kept the Stallions riding high for the past year.

It is sure to be an exciting clash.

#NPLNSWMATCH REVIEWSSydney Olympic FC 2 – Bonnyrigg White Eagles 1 at Belmore Sports Ground

Alejandro Lopez scored a debut goal to give Sydney Olympic a hard fought 2-1 victory over Bonnyrigg White Eagles in their National Premier Leagues NSW Mens opening round clash at Belmore Sportsground on Sunday afternoon.

The Spanish recruit struck ten minutes from full time to gift new head coach Abbas Saad the first triumph of his managerial tenure and ensure the Belmore club continue their strong recent form over the White Eagles.

Having gone ahead early on through a Jason Madonis penalty Olympic were on the receiving end of large periods of Bonnyrigg pressure and eventually cracked when Jewook Woo planted a header past Paul Henderson midway through the second half.

But while Olympic lived dangerously at times Bonnyrigg were unable to capitalise on their dominance and the Blues eventually nicked the winner through Lopez late on.

Marconi Stallions 1 – Sydney United 58 0 at Marconi Stadium

Marconi Stallions FC have made a perfect return to the National Premier Leagues NSW with a 1-0 win against local rivals Sydney United 58 FC.

A fourth minute strike from Sean Rooney was the difference as the Stallions held on for the opening round win.

It was a tough result for United 58 who played their first regular season game under incoming coach Jason Culina.

The Reds had their chances to equalise through striker Chris Payne but couldn’t break down a disciplined Marconi defence.

#NPLNSWFEATURE STORYBEREVESKOS READY FOR NEW BEGINNINGS

When Bonnyrigg White Eagles club officials starting chasing Dean Bereveskos late last

season, the outcome was inevitable.

The 22-year-old is a big fan of White Eagles skipper Ray Miller, and the one time youth player with Bayer Leverkusen’s youth side can’t wait to ply his trade in the middle of the park next to the man affectionately known as ‘Whiz.’

“Definitely playing with Ray was a huge attraction,” Bereveskos told Football NSW.

“We also know each other from Futsal circles, I know what he can do on the pitch.

“Bonnyrigg is a big club used to winning trophies, they have ambitious plans for this season, I’m looking forward to being a part of that.”

Bereveskos’ football CV is impressive to say the least.

Following his stint in Germany he then represented Wolverhampton Wanderers in the United Kingdom as a teenager.

Eventually he made his way back to Sydney, turning out for a host of leading NPL NSW clubs, namely Rockdale City Suns and Sydney Olympic FC.

He caught the eye playing for Hakoah Sydney City East in 2017, where he was a key player in their success away from the league, mainly the FFA Cup and winning the Waratah Cup.

“I enjoyed my time at Hakoah, but like any footballer I want to win trophies and play at the highest level possible,” the student at Homebush’s Australian College of Physical Education said.

“Bonnyrigg will suit how I like to play, I love to be on the ball running at players.

“With Aaron Peterson back from injury and Tynan Diaz returning from the Brisbane State League, we have dangerous players all over the park.

“Our assistant Milan Susak has been great and what else needs to be said about Bomber (head coach Brian Brown).

NPLNSW.COM.AU U20’S MATCH PREVIEW

Bonnyrigg White Eagles must guard against complacency at home to Marconi Stallions

when the two sides clash at Bonnyrigg Sports Club on Sunday afternoon.

The White Eagles got off the mark last weekend thanks to a 1-0 win over Sydney Olympic but will have slight concerns regarding injuries sustained against the Blues and some nervy second half lapses.

After losing six of their first seven last campaign the fixture represents a great chance for the hosts to demonstrate their maturity and potential as championship contenders.

Opponents Marconi were narrowly defeated at home by Sydney United 58 in their opening round clash at Marconi Stadium with plenty of positives for the recently promoted side to take from the loss.
