QUESTION ?Does the Rotary Club of Canton want to
continue with the fundraiser as it has for the last 15 years or make changes?
DECLINING TICKET SALES:Historically, club members have been asked to
sell 5 tickets.Historically, not all club members have
participated to this degree for various reasons including:Some members have done in-kind contributions. Some members are in professions that do not lend
themselves to any type of solicitations. Not enough sponsors have been solicited.
Surveys in the past have indicated a desire to change the fundraiser.

Issues:Difficulty in selling tickets (could be worse
this year)Increase in expensesDiminished income from fundraiserDo we need a more prominent cause?
Suggestions:Leave the fundraiser as it has been
historicallyChoose another formatSell tickets only for a cash prizeCombination – increase in dues and smaller
fundraiser?
Leave the fundraiser as isPros:
Historical event that raises community awareness of the club
Social event for the community and club members
Even $17,000 is a good fundraiserCons:
Declining incomeIncreasing overheadClub member participation in ticket sales
Choose another format
Do a more casual event with fewer expenses
i.e. Western wear event at outdoor location
Lower ticket prices
Lower cash prize
Sell tickets onlyPrint 5 tickets for each member to sell just as
a raffle for prize money:Reduce price to $100Cash Prize could stay at $10,000$500 per member x 60 members = $30,000Draw winning ticket at lunch meeting (perhaps
in coordination with Law Day when we have a big crowd)
Profit would still be $20,000
Questions:How to motivate club members to sell 5
tickets?Do we really want the party?

A final decision will be made by ballot in the near future after hearing input from club members.
