Dear Rotarians,
We’re in that joyous time of the year; and I am overjoyed to connect with my
fellow Rotarians in District 5750. As we near the end of the first half of the
2019-20 Rotary year, I have been blessed to meet so many dedicated
Rotarians around our great district. So far, I have visited all the clubs except
for a couple (and they will be in January).
If you’re like me, ‘tis the season for making a list, checking it twice, gonna
find out who’s naughty and nice, so…
• Finish your holiday shopping if you didn’t get it done on Black Friday
or Cyber Monday.
• Select 2020-21 Club President and Secretary then post in Club
Central.
• Update membership in Club Central by January 1 (RI invoicing).
• Review Club goals.
• Continue to Grow Rotary! As a District we have growth with an
increase of 22 in 4 months!
• Make plans to attend the District Conference, April 24-25 in Oklahoma
City. Free for Rotarians!
• Make a donation to the Rotary Foundation before year-end for that tax
deduction!
• Make plans to submit an application for a district grant, due May 15.
• President Elects-and Nominees mark your calendar to attend PETS,
March 19-21, 2020.
• Make reservations to attend the Rotary International Convention, June

DISTRICT 5750 NEWS
PRESIDENT-ELECT TRAINING SEMINAR 2020
Can you believe that there are only around 100 days until our 2020 President-Elect Training? We will once again next year join forces with our fellow Rotarians in the eastern half of Oklahoma, most of Arkansas and parts of Kansas and Missouri, to bring you a great event full of dynamic speakers and Rotary International officials. While the travel may be a little bit longer, the opportunity to share and learn with over 300 fellow Rotarians will be well worth it, which our Presidents who attended last year can attest to. The District will cover the cost of the event, to include meals on Friday and Saturday, and we ask the clubs to plan a budget of approximately $300 to cover two nights lodging and travel expenses. This is an excellent opportunity to share a ride with a club or two near you! So, President Elects and President-Elect Nominees mark your calendar for March 19-21, 2020, for an experience you won’t forget. If your club has not already, please make sure to provide DGE, Angela Rickman with your incoming Presidents for 2020-21, you can send the contact information directly to [email protected]
For more details, visit http://midamericapets.org/.
I look forward to having a fun and successful Rotary year with each of you! Thanks, Angela Rickman District Governor 2020 - 2021

EXCHANGE HOST FAMILIES NEEDED!
Edmond Summit has a need for a host family or families for our two exchange students Maria (Mavie) Damonte (Genoa, Italy) and Luigi Trevisan (Curitiba, Brazil) for the 2nd semester of the school year begin-ning the end of December 2019. As you know they don't even need to host for the entire time. The semester can be split between two or even more host families.
Mavie is currently being hosted by Jeff and Kayla Blount, and Luigi is being hosted by Jerry and Carline Burger. Both are enrolled at Edmond Memorial High School, where they will remain for the remainder of the school year. Both Mavie and Luigi have after school activities. Mavie is in Varsity Swimming, and Luigi is in Varsity Soccer. Both students are exemplary in their studies and well spoken and fluent in English.
The student will be expected to become a part of the host family for the period they stay with to experience "normal" life in the USA. As such, just as with any student in the family, the Host family will provide their meals and lodging, plan and allow them to participate in regular family activities, and ALSO, very important, make sure the students are driven to school on time and have transportation arranged to and from their school and Rotary events. The exchange program does not allow them to drive themselves, so they are totally dependent on the host family for their transportation.
Anyone who has ever had the experience of hosting or being hosted will understand this is a wonderful opportunity to share in the memories of two young people's lives, and become a part of their extended family for years to come. Many of the past host families have remained close with their exchange students, (literally for decades) some as close as another son or daughter, or brother or sister.
Please ask members consider this thoughtfully, as it is a commitment. However, the long term memories and experiences gained through sharing the American experience with an exchange student will offer so much in return that they will wonder why they didn't do it before!
Please interested Rotarians contact me at [email protected] or text me at 405-640-5724 if they are able to help us by temporarily extending the use of a home and the experience of their family life to either or both of these two great young ambassadors. It will be a blessing beyond any measure, I assure you!
Best Regards, George Strecker Edmond Summit Rotary Club President 2019-2020

PONCA CITY—DICTIONARY DELIVERY Ponca City Rotary delivered dictionaries to all 3
rd grade students in all public and
private elementary schools in Ponca City. This is an annual event and each 3
rd grade
student receives a personalized dictionary for them to have as their own. The school then teaches them how to use this valuable tool by incorporating into their curriculum. It is a highlight for the kids and they look for-ward to receiving their own dictionary from Rotary. The picture depicts the entire 3
rd
grade class at one of the local elementary schools along with presenters Richard Winterrowd and Kelly Johnson.

EDMOND—CAREER SHADOW DAY
Career Shadow Day provides young people the opportunity to shadow Rotarians performing their
daily work in their professional environment.
Students are chosen from Edmond Memorial,
Edmond North and Edmond Santa Fe.
Rotarians invited approximately 30 students to
observe them in their workplace allowing them the
opportunity to explore specific careers and get a
realistic picture of the tasks performed for that job.
Professions included City Government, Optometry,
Dentistry, Real Estate Development, Manufactur-
ing, the City of Edmond Police and Fire Depart-
ments, Mortgage and Banking, Photography,
School Administration, Oklahoma State Govern-
ment and the Edmond Economic Development
Authority. Special medical partners were Mercy

Melvin as well as Club Member Tim Richardson

PONCA CITY - TEEN PEP SUPPLY DRIVE
Rotary Downtown hosted a club social at Astoria Bar and Grill and members donated supplies to the
Teen Pep program at Ponca City High School. Supplies were clothing, diapers and baby care prod-
ucts to give to the students of the program. The program is for high school mothers and fathers to
allow them to graduate with their high school degree. There are currently 4 students down consider-
ably from when the program started. $140 was also collected at club meetings and gift cards were
distributed. The picture shows Rotarians gathered around
