Presidents Night
A “Green Tie” Presidents Night and Christmas Party was enjoyed at West Hants
Club on 30th November. It was good to see President Graham Green back in
the fold after recent surgery and able to enjoy such a splendid celebration of his
presidential year and the onset of Christmas.
Over 60 Rotarians, partners and guests danced the night away to the music of
the 60’s & 70’s performed by the excellent New Beats Band. President Elect
Roger Deas presented the Selkirk
Grace on St Andrews Day in his
full national dress…sorry, I meant
kilt.

Dorset Children’s Society Rtns John Spurgeon and Stan Webb presented a cheque for £500 to the Dorset Children’s Society following the successful “Golf in the Dark” - see also page 5. Our Ladies and partners were not to be outdone and presented a cheque for £400 to this worthwhile local charity. Thanks to our ladies Robbie Spurgeon, the Ladies Group Chair, & Dot Davis photographed with Louise Hands-Heathfield from the Dorset Children’s Society. Monies to go towards helping a child with severe mobility problems.
Gateway Club The Rotary Club of Bournemouth North continues its support for the Gateway Club in Moordown. This an excellent facility for adults with learning difficulties and Rotary Donated £200 to fund an outing for the members to Poultons’ Park. Feedback suggests that ALL enjoyed the outing. An excellent presentation on the charity
Shelter Box, was given to the members
of the Rotary Club of Bournemouth
North by Rotarian Howard Matthews of
the Christchurch Rotary Club at their
recent meeting.
Since its formation 20 years ago , this
Rotary inspired charity has distributed
thousands of boxes containing
tents and the necessities for life into
areas afflicted by war or disasters and is
now active in many other parts of the
world.
A big thank-you to members and friends who braved the November
weather on Winton High Street to collect on behalf of the Royal British Legion.
Rtn. Tony Stark summoned and commanded our troops in his customary manner.
Thanks also to Sturtons & Tapper for their “back office” support.
Shoppers and residents supported the fund to the tune of £1202.89
