    Strengthening Todays Leaders to Build Peac

    The Rotary World Peace Fellowship has given me a platorm that will enable me to dedicate mysel to the

    important challenge o international confict prevention and peace-building in the uture.

    Do you want to change the world? Heres how.

    Rotary World Peace Fellows are leaders promoting national

    and international cooperation, peace, and the successul

    resolution o conict throughout their lives, in their careers,

    and through service activities. Fellows can earn a masters

    degree in international relations, public administration,

    sustainable development, peace studies, and conict

    resolution, or a related feld, or a proessional development

    certifcate in peace and conict resolution.

    Alumni work in a range o areas, including grassroots and

    local nongovernmental organizations, national governments,the military, police, and bilateral and international

    organizations such as the United Nations, World Bank,

    International Organization or Migration, and Organization

    o American States. Graduates o the program also enjoy the

    support o a growing worldwide network o ellow alumni

    committed to building peace.

    Through the Rotary Centers program, The Rotary Foundatio

    and Rotarians can increase their eectiveness in promoting

    greater tolerance and cooperation among peoples, leading t

    world understanding and peace.

    Funding

    Rotary World Peace Fellowships und either masters degree

    or proessional development certifcate study at one o the six

    Rotary Centers or International Studies in peace and conict

    resolution at seven universities worldwide.

    Fellowship unding includes

    Tuition and ees

    Room and board

    Round-trip transportation

    Internship (masters degree) or feld study expenses

    (proessional development certifcate)

    Rotary World Peace Fellows must locate unds to pay or all

    expenses that are not specifcally unded by their ellowship,such as mandatory health insurance (excluding the certifcate

    program that covers this expense) and visas.

    I was working in confict situations or over 10 years but never had the technical know-how o dealing with

    confict until now. The innovations learnt have urther widened my scope o the understanding o conficts

    and how to deal with them to achieve a peaceul goal. My challenge now will be ocused on how to render

    the DRC a confict-ree zone.

    Applicants or the Rotary World Peace Fellowships

    should have

    A commitment to international understanding and

    peace, demonstrated through their proessional and

    academic achievements and personal and community

    service activities

    Bachelors degree or equivalent in a related feld

    with strong grades at the time o application

    Minimum three years combined paid or unpaid

    ull-time relevant work experience or the masters

    degree program

    Minimum fve years relevant work experience with

    current ull-time employment in a mid- to upper-level

    position or the certifcate program

    Profciency in a second language or the masters program

    or profciency in English or the certifcate program

    Excellent leadership skills

    The ollowing persons are ineligible or Rotary World Peac

    Fellowships: (a) a Rotarian, an honorary Rotarian; (b) an

    employee o a club, district, or other Rotary entity or o

    Rotary International; (c) a spouse, lineal descendant (child

    or grandchild by blood or legal adoption), spouse o lineal

    descendants, or ancestors (parent or grandparent by blood)any living person in the categories (a) or (b); and (d) orme

    Rotarians and their relatives as described above within

    36 months o resignation.

    Persons with disabilities and Rotaract members are eligible

    and encouraged to apply.

    Applications are available from the RI Web site at www.rotary.org/rotarycenters.

    Each district will set its own application deadline to comply with The Rotary Foundations deadline and may endorse as many applicants to the world competitionas it deems qualied. Each district must submit its candidate applications to the Foundation by 1 July annually for the upcoming masters degree study year andupcoming January and June certicate program sessions.

    Selection andAssignment

    Up to 100 Rotary World Peace Fellows will be selected each

    year. Ten ellows on average are assigned to each RotaryCenter oering a masters degree, and up to 25 ellows are

    assigned to each session o the proessional development

    certifcate program. Fellows will be assigned to study at a

    Rotary Center located in a country other than that o their

    citizenship or permanent residence, with the exception o

    Japanese citizens interested in enrolling at the Rotary Center

    in Japan, or Thai citizens interested in enrolling in the Rotary

    Center in Thailand.

    Rotary World Peace Fellows are chosen based on their ability

    to have a signifcant, positive impact on world peace and

    conict resolution during their careers.

    Admission andstudy schedule

    Rotary World Peace Fellows are responsible or gaining

    admission to their assigned Rotary Center university partneor masters degree programs. Final admission decisions

    or the proessional development certifcate rest with the

    selection committee, as these ellows do not need to apply t

    the university or admission.

    Fellows begin their studies at dierent times, depending on

    the academic schedule o their assigned Rotary Center host

    institution. Northern Hemisphere Rotary Centers masters

    degree programs will begin in July, August, or September.

    Southern Hemisphere Rotary Centers masters degree

    programs will begin in the ollowing February or March.

    The three-month certifcate program has two sessions per

    year: January-April and June-August. Please reer to the

    universitys Web site or www.rotary.org/rotarycenters or

    detailed inormation on each Rotary Centers program.
