WORLD ROTARACT WEEK HIGHLIGHTS Contributed by: Jose Zapata Assistant District Rotaract Representative

"Being the young generation of the "Service Above Self" philosophy, we would like a certain day to be celebrated as “World Rotaract Day” which would give us a chance for our voice to be heard with a common activity”. Originally held in a day, the recognition grew into a week and it is now celebrated as the second week in March. Many Rotaractors across the globe congregate, and connect with each other to bring forth creative activities, information, and an abundance of fun that benefit members as well as communities. In the northern part of the district, members of Lost Coast Rotaract and North Bay Rotaract came together for a beautification project in Old town Eureka. Rotaract members who participated worked hard pulling weeds, cleaning up, and also replanting bare spots gorgeous flowers around the block.

Later in the week Rotaractors teamed up with Pacific Outfitters’ PacOut Green Team who turned their attention to the Samoa Beach clean-up. The Rotaract club of Agrabad also celebrated world Rotaract week by offering club salutation to Lost Coast Rotaract and North Bay Rotaract clubs who are now twin clubs with the Rotaract club of Agrabad. North Bay President Rachel Damme received a proclamation for World Rotaract Week March 7th-13th by the City of Arcata Council.

Thank you to those who participated, and to those who could not, please remember that our efforts don’t conclude at the end of Rotaract week, our efforts are year round. Meet up with your friends and members, and engage.

ROTARACTORS THAT WENT ON ROTAPLAST MISSION

PRESENTING AT CONFERENCE MAY 7TH! DO NOT MISS IT!

TWIN CLUB AGREEMENTS MADE

The Lost Coast Rotaract Club from Eureka, California and the North Bay Rotaract Club from Arcata, California have both signed Twin Club Agreements with the Rotaract Club of Agrabad, in Chittagong Bangladesh.

While in Chittagong Bangladesh, four District 5130 Rotaractors: Carly Robbins, Jamie Carroll, Royce Buell, and Cory Busher were fortunate enough to be able to work alongside Rotaractors from the city of Chittagong.

Members from the Rotaract clubs of Agrabad, Chittagong and Port City served as translators during the mission, helping the entire medial and non-medical team to communicate with patients, their parents and the medical team in Bangladesh. Good friendships were formed and the Rotaract clubs of Agrabad, Chittagong and Port City even held a special joint meeting to welcome all four Rotaractors from California.

During this visit, members of the Lost Coast Rotaract and North Bay Rotaract clubs signed twinning agreements with the Rotaract Club of Agrabad. The clubs are extremely excited for the opportunity to partner with such wonderful Rotaractors abroad on future projects and look forward to the chance to create lasting relationships with our friends in Chittagong.

For more about the Rotaract Club of Agrabad visit their FaceBook.

ROTARACT DISTRICT 5130 ● CLUB SPOTLIGHT SANTA ROSA JUNIOR COLLEGE ROTARACT

The club’s Vice President Erika Jiménez spent part of her spring break in Eureka, California. Erika presented to the Rotary Club of Eureka on the Global Offsite Care Telemedicine project with Hannah Josang from North Bay Rotaract. The club wishes special thanks to Carlton Nielsen for organizing the presentation and for always being supportive of Rotaract.
