• Multi Media to Mixed Mediao Rationale: Current trend in art when utilizing more than one
material (media) called Mixed Mediao Multi Media implies either technology or many supplies used in
a single work of art
• Sculpture and Ceramics as stand alone courses to Sculpture and Ceramicso Combining two courses to increase enrollment
• Advanced Sculpture and Advanced Ceramics as stand alone courses to Advanced Sculpture and Advanced Ceramicso Combining two courses to increase enrollment
Reinventing Current Courses
New Music Course ProposalRoslyn High School Chorale
• Grades 9 – 12 – Full Year Course
• Formerly: Elementary Roslyn Singers (9th grade) and Roslyn Chorus (Grades10-12)
• Incorporate 9th grade choral students into full mixed grade chorus
• Goal: Increase skills of 9th grade choral students via heterogeneous full mixed grade chorale
New Music Course ProposalTreble Chorus (Bella Voce)
• Grades 9 – 12, Full Year Course/Alternate Day
• Choral repertoire composed for Treble Voices makes up a large portion of classical and contemporary music literature.
• Treble Choruses are common in high-level music programs in both high schools and universities as this venue provides young women with the opportunity to sing together and explore music composed specifically for their voices.
• Goal: Provide specific training for young women interested in participating/competing in NYSSMA at the state level
New Music Course ProposalTheatre I
• Grades 9-12 – Semester Course (Can be taken multiple times)
• Theatre is the study of life itself, as students explore characters, experiences, and emotions, and reflect them upon the stage.
• The development of this artistic expression will enable students to develop essential 21st century skills such as: collaboration, active listening, sharing of ideas, respecting other opinions, and problem-solving together in small groups.
• Materials and sources will include: Basic Drama Projects, Intro to Theatre Arts, Basic Drama Projects, Theatre Games for Young Performers, Monologues, and Drama Games.
• Goal: Enable students to engage in developing their theatre performance skills and increase participation in Royal Crown Players.

• Course designed specifically for our Life Skills Students.
• Course has grown out of discussions with students and their common interest in learning how to care for pets, animal behavior, as well as the biology of animal care.
• Includes the study of cats, dogs, birds, fish, and reptiles from a biology perspective.
• Portfolio assessments will include: creation of a pet care manual, development of stories to teach younger students about animal care, and volunteer work a a local pet shelter.
Project Lead the WayEngineering Program
District Overview
District Program• Elementary Level
o Program is entitled “Launch”o One Module, Stability and Motion in Flight, will be
implemented this year via the Enrichment Program.
• Middle School Level• Program is entitled Gateway• Currently two modules of study have been introduced (each
are 1 semester in length):o Design and Modeling (7th Grade) o Automation and Robotics (8th Grade)
DDP – IED (Introduction to Engineering Design)
PLTW
An introductory engineering class teaches
students about…
1. Working as a team2. The Design Process, from defining a problem to the
presentation of a solution3. Various aspects of engineering and engineering design4. How engineers communicate through drawings and
data5. Technical drawing and dimensioning formats6. Summary statistical analysis and the use of Microsoft
Excel7. 3D modeling skills with AutoDesk Inventor software8. The Reverse Engineering Process.
CIM(Computer Integrated Manufacturing)
PLTW
Student work-agv’s(Automated Guided Vehicles)
The Assigned Task:Using Robot C software and VEX Robotics hardware, students had to build and program an AGV that adhered to the following guidelines:
o The vehicle must autonomously follow a black line, adjusting itself to stay on track
o The vehicle must come to a full stop at each ‘intersection’ and then continue on it way along the track
CEA (Civil Engineering and Architecture)
PLTW
Students use 3D modeling software Revit to create and test your own residential and commercial designs, factoring in:
Materials and systemsStructural designCost/efficiency analysisStorm water managementSite design / considerationsUtilities and servicesBuilding codesArchitectural style and guidelines
New Pathway to Engineering Course Proposal
(PLTW)
Civil Engineering and Architecture
• Grades 10, 11, 12 - Full Year Course
• Prerequisite – Intro to Engineering Design
• Our 2nd elective course in a 4 year sequence of engineering courses
• Illuminates opportunities related to important aspects of building and site design and development
• Topics include residential design and construction, cost and efficiency analysis, commercial building systems/structures, services/utilities, site considerations
• Final project will involve students applying math, science, and standard engineering practices to design a unique residential and commercial project via 3D architecture design software/Revit CAD software
Benefits for Our Students• Learn and apply the design process• Development of teamwork and communication
skills• Exposure to engineering concepts and tools• Use of CAD software• Real-world, hands-on, problem solving work• Courses can be recognized by Universities like
Advanced Placement Courses• PLTW Scholar Certificate for students who complete
a 4 year sequence
New Math Course ProposalAP Computer Science Principles (New College Board AP Course)
• Grades 10-12 - Full Year Course
• Provides an opportunity for students to explore and study computer science on an introductory level without a prerequisite
• Topics include foundational concepts of computer science, computational thinking practice, abstraction, algorithms, programming, exploring how computing and technology impact the world, focus on creative problem solving and real-world applications
• Course will include project-based assessments, exams and a culminating AP exam in May
