Local Scholarship Program

INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE APPLICATIONS

Scholarship applications will be made available on each school’s website. Granite Bay High School students can also access the applications through each Senior student’s Naviance account.

Read each scholarship very carefully. Only apply to those that you are qualified for!

Each scholarship submission will require the following:

o EITHER a “General Application” or a “Special Application” (not both!)

Available by going to your school’s website or Naviance and downloading the application.

o EITHER a “Personal Statement” or a “Special Essay” (not both!)

o Example: If you apply for 5 scholarships, you must turn in 5 applications (either General or

Special) and 5 essays (Either Personal Statement or Special Essay)

Only attach Letters of Recommendation to those scholarships specifically requesting them.

If a Transcript is required, your College & Career Center Representative will provide that for you,

free of charge. Do not request a transcript from the front office!

Your College & Career Center Representative will be responsible for completing the section on

Page 2 of the Application titled “For Office Use Only.”

Committees will not accept packets that are incomplete or not properly put together.

Only include required documentation asked for by each organization. Anything extra will be

removed.

All completed applications are due to your College & Career Center by: 3:00 PM ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2019 – NO EXCEPTIONS

Your College & Career Center Representative is responsible for submitting all completed application packets to the various scholarship committees. The scholarship committees will then determine the scholarship winner(s). Scholarship winners will be announced at your school’s Senior AMA Awards Ceremony. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are the recipient of a scholarship, you are expected to send a Thank You Letter! In past years, we have lost some scholarships because winners did not follow this practice. Your College & Career Center Representative will advise you through this process once you have been announced the scholarship recipient.

DISTRICT–WIDE SCHOLARSHIPS

THE ALLEGIANT GIVING SCHOLARSHIP FOR TOMORROW’S

LEADERS – $500 One male and one female award per school.

Open to graduating high school seniors at Oakmont and Roseville high schools who have demonstrated leadership qualities. Leaders are found in many places and emerge from many places also. Those involved in class or school leadership positions are obviously potential candidates for this scholarship, but it is not limited to just that arena. Many leaders emerge through athletics and activities participation, especially those involving teamwork, and those individuals are also encouraged to apply. Applicants must complete a Special Application and submit a 500 word essay explaining “What constitutes a good leader and what has made you a good leader.”

To Receive Award: Awardees must visit their College & Career Coordinator before the end of the school year to arrange payment of the award money. Awardees will complete an online form with personal information to ensure money is processed correctly. Scholarship winners must submit proof of full-time enrollment (12+ units) within 1 year of graduation from high school to their College & Career Coordinator before payment is processed.

AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN (AAUW)

SCHOLARSHIP – 2 @ $750

AAUW-RSP celebrates 50 years of serving the community. The purpose of the American Association of University Women, Roseville-South Placer Branch (AAUW) scholarship is to provide college scholarship awards to graduating high school senior girls within the South Placer school districts who will be attending a two or four year college. Applicants must complete a Special Application, three Letters of Recommendation, high school transcript, a one page 500-word essay stating, “How you plan on being a leader of women after college”, Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA, and a college admissions letter by June 15, 2019.

GPA of 2.5 or Higher

ANTELOPE AMERICAN YOUTH SOCCER ORGANIZATION (AYSO)

SCHOLARSHIP- The number of scholarships/amounts determined by the committee.

Antelope American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) is offering up to $1,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors. To be eligible, applicants must have participated as a player in Antelope AYSO during their high school years. Applicants must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA with exemplary citizenship. Must apply with a SPECIAL APPLICATION which includes an essay. A transcript must also be attached.

SYLVIA BESANA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – 2 @ $500 The number of scholarships available depends on amount of funding. Open to all seniors in the Roseville Joint Union High School District planning to pursue a college education

leading toward a career in the field of teaching or physical education. Students who have demonstrated civic involvement or participation with student government are encouraged to apply.

General Application Required To Receive Award: Awardees must visit their College & Career Coordinator before the end of the school year to arrange payment of the award money. Awardees will complete an online form with personal information to ensure money is processed correctly. Scholarship winners must send proof of completion of first semester (full-time enrollment, 12+ units) within 1 year of high school graduation to their College & Career Coordinator before payment is processed.

CALIFORNIA SCHOOL EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION CHAPTER 459

SCHOLARSHIP – $100-$500

Open to graduating seniors who have a parent/legal guardian who is an active member in good standing with

CSEA, Chapter 459. Applicants must submit: (1) Special Essay specifically stating why scholarship is needed and (2) A transcript with general application. GPA must be 2.5 or higher. This scholarship will be awarded only to those deemed qualified by the scholarship selection committee.

CARPENTERS LOCAL UNION 46 SCHOLARSHIP – $500-$1,000 The number of scholarships/amounts determined by the committee. Open to all seniors in the Roseville Joint Union High School District continuing their education beyond high

school. Students must have a 2.0 GPA or better; demonstrate financial need, community and/or school involvement and a positive attitude.

General Application Required

GPA of 2.0 or Higher To Receive Award: Awardees must visit their College & Career Coordinator before the end of the school year to arrange payment of

the award money. Awardees will complete an online form with personal information to ensure money is processed correctly.

Scholarship winners must submit proof of full-time college enrollment (12+ units), within one year of high school graduation, to their College & Career Coordinator before payment is processed.

CHESLER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – 1 @ $2,000

Open to all seniors in the Roseville Joint Union High School District planning to pursue a college education leading toward a career in mining, geology, or related field.

General Application Required To Receive Award: Awardees must visit their College & Career Coordinator before the end of the school year to arrange payment of the award money. Awardees will complete an online form with personal information to ensure money is processed correctly. Scholarship winners must submit proof of full-time college enrollment (12+ units) and college expenses, within one year of high school graduation, to their College & Career Coordinator before payment is processed.

GODIL FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP – 1 @ $1,000 Open to RJUHSD graduating seniors who plan to pursue a college degree in the field of Medical and Health Sciences, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of

3.5 or higher and must include a 500-word Special Essay explaining, “What is your passion and goal in life and why do you deserve this award?” Attach transcript to application. A letter of recommendation from a science or mathematics teacher is also required.

PASCO GOMES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – 1 @ $1,000

For a deserving and serious high school student, for the first year of university study in the field of business or manufacturing management.

General Application Required To Receive Award: Awardees must visit their College & Career Coordinator before the end of the school year to arrange payment of the award money. Awardees will complete an online form with personal information to ensure money is processed correctly. Recipients are aware payment is over two semesters (50%-50%), upon submitting proof of enrollment as a full-time student (12+ units), to their College & Career Coordinator before payment is processed.

PINKY JENSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – 1 @ $1,000 Open to RJUHSD seniors who are dependent youth of a past or present member of the Roseville Fire

Department. One scholarship in the amount of $1,000 each shall be available annually for qualified applicants having a minimum 3.0 GPA. This scholarship shall be awarded by the Executive Board of Local 1592 following applicant review and recommendation by the Scholarship Committee. Awards shall be limited to one per person, and may be used for either college or vocational programs. Must apply with a Special Application.

Special Application Required

GPA of 3.0 or Higher To Receive Award: Winners must submit proof of full-time (12+ units) enrollment in college or vocational program prior to the disbursement of funds by the Local Treasurer. Awards must be used within 2 years following high school graduation. Submit to: Pinky Jenson Memorial Scholarship, L-1592 Secretary, P.O. Box 638, Roseville, CA 95678

MONIQUE JOHNSON HOMES PAY IT FORWARD SCHOLARSHIP –

1 @ $500 Additional scholarships to be determined by funding. Open to all seniors at Antelope, Granite Bay, Oakmont, Roseville, and Woodcreek who will be pursuing a

college education. Primary criteria in selecting recipient(s) are students who can demonstrate a strong work ethic, perseverance in their academic growth and success, and individual promise. Must have at least a 3.3 GPA or higher. Applicants must submit a Special Essay with a short answer: “In one paragraph, please give an example of your work ethic in action.”

General Application Required

GPA of 3.3 or Higher

KIWANIS CLUB OF ROSEVILLE SCHOLARSHIP See amounts listed below. Open to senior students who will be pursuing a college education. Primary criteria in selecting recipients are students who can demonstrate, in an attached written narrative, extensive involvement in

volunteerism within their community and/or participation in community activities within their school. Students are also selected on demonstrative leadership, high moral character, good citizenship and financial need.

General Application Required

GPA of 2.75 (B-) or Higher

Special Essay required demonstrating extensive involvement in volunteerism within your community and/or participation in community activities within your school. Key Club membership is required.

AMOUNT: 3 - $1,000 – Antelope Key Club 3 - $1,000 – Oakmont Key Club 3 - $1,000 – Granite Bay Key Club 3 - $1,000 – Roseville Key Club

3 - $1,000 – Woodcreek Key Club 1 - $500 – Independence/Adelante (combined) –Key Club Membership NOT required To Receive Award: Must send proof of full-time enrollment (12 units) in a college or university to: Frank Chapman, Scholarship Chairperson, Kiwanis Club of Roseville, 208 Fairhall Court, Roseville, CA 95747. Award must be collected within two years.

LILANI WEALTH MANAGEMENT (STEM) SCHOLARSHIP

– 1 @ $500

The Lilani Wealth Management (STEM) Scholarship is open to all graduating female seniors studying STEM who will be pursuing a college degree in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and must include a 500-word Special Essay entitled: “Giving Back: How I’ll Make a Difference in the World.” Also one letter of recommendation from a teacher or school counselor must be attached to the application packet. (Financial need is not necessarily required.)

General Application Required

GPA of 3.5 or Higher

500-word Special Essay Required entitled “Giving Back: How I’ll Make a Difference in the World.” Explain your contribution, small or big, to better the lives of the people in the world.

ROSEVILLE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

SCHOLARSHIP – 1 @ $500

Scholarship is open to all RJUHSD graduating seniors with a 2.5 or greater GPA. The applicant

shall demonstrate a desire to pursue an Entrepreneurial business opportunity as a career and plan on attending Community College, College or University beginning fall of 2019. Include Business Plan and Letter of Recommendation.

General Application Required

GPA of 2.5 or Higher

Business Plan Must be Included

Letter of Recommendation required describing your qualifications and why you deserve this scholarship. To Receive Award: Recipient must submit proof of full-time enrollment (12 units) in Community College, College or University to: Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneur Scholarship; 650 Douglas Blvd., Roseville, CA 95678

R.C.O.N.A. Roseville coalition of neighborhood

association Scholarship – 3 @ $150

Roseville Coalition of Neighborhood Associations (R.C.O.N.A.) is offering this scholarship opportunity to all RJUHSD Seniors planning on pursuing a college education or receiving a certificate in a vocational program.

General Application Required

Transcript with GPA of 3.0 or higher

Community Service – We require confirmation of community volunteer service at RCONA neighborhood events (1 or more). This information can be noted in Community Activity Section of “General Application”.

Letter of Recommendation from Teacher or High School Counselor

Special Essay-250-500 words, Answering the Question: “How has volunteering in your community helped shape who you are today?”

To Receive Award: Winners should provide full time enrollment details at a 2 or 4 year college, university or vocational school to RCONA Scholarship Committee, 1911 Douglas Blvd. Suite 85-370, Roseville, CA 95661.

ROSEVILLE CRIME STOPPERS SCHOLARSHIP – 1 @ $1,000 Open to Seniors pursuing a career in the field of Criminal Justice. Criteria for selection will be on financial

need, leadership qualities, high school extracurricular activities and community service. Must have at least one letter of recommendation from the applicant’s high school counselor or teacher. The top three applicants will be asked to attend a short meeting with the Crime Stoppers Board to answer a prepared question to determine the final winning applicant.

General Application Required

At Least One Letter of Recommendation from High School Counselor or Teacher Required

To Receive Award: Must submit proof of full-time enrollment (12 units) to: Crime Stoppers Board, PO Box 682, Roseville, CA 95661. Award must be collected within two years of high school graduation.

ROSEVILLE EMBLEM CLUB, NO. 407 SCHOLARSHIP – 2 @ $1,000 Open to senior students who are continuing their education after graduating from high school and enrolling in college full-time (12 units) in the fall. Award will be based on a GPA of 2.8 or better; financial need;

Open to seniors at Roseville High School. To be granted on the basis of individual promise, academic

performance and need. The scholarship will be awarded each year to a student who intends to major in science or mathematics.

WOODCREEK HIGH SCHOOL TIMBERWOLF BOOSTERS

SCHOLARSHIP – UP TO 3 @ $500

The WHS Booster Club wishes to recognize deserving seniors who possess qualities which suggest a well-rounded lifestyle and the potential for academic success in college. The applicant must have a 2.0 GPA or better and has volunteered in at least 10 hours of Booster functions. Must apply with a Special Application and instructions for this scholarship. Transcript must be attached. Provide a letter of recommendation from a WHS administrator, faculty member or coach. Prepare and submit a typed biographical narrative of your involvement with your club or sport along with your personal goals.
