“People in glass houses can’t see the wood for the new broom…” (Symposium, Paul Muldoon)

The reason why I chose to use a line from Paul Muldoon’s poem to harmonize with my Citizen Kane “collage” is because all of the things Charles Kane surrounded himself to fill the hole in his life prevented Jerry Thompson (the reporter) from seeing the real meaning of rosebud (the real meaning of rosebud was his only real happy memory when he was a child). It ties into the quotation because Jerry Thompson truly could not see the “wood broom” while in the glass house.
