JEWISH FAMILY SERVICE
2012 ANNUAL REPORT
Finding New Balance and Enabling Positive Change
Rooted in community since 1911
JEWISH FAMILY SERVICE
MISSION
Inspired by Jewish values,
Jewish Family Service
assists individuals and
families by helping them
build on their strengths
to develop the skills and
confidence to meet life’s
challenges with dignity.
dear friendsIt is said that “Life is change”, and today’s rate of change can be dizzying.
The economy, the changing world of work, unsettling cultural shifts, the “grey
tsunami” of the baby boomers — all can contribute to our sense of vertigo.
At times like this, we need each other even more than usual.
Jewish Family Service is the place where individuals and families can
turn when looking for support in regaining balance. Our experienced,
compassionate staff and dedicated, energetic volunteers are ready partners in
helping a wide variety of people in areas such as employment, counseling, and
senior family matters, as well as resource location and use. JFS continues to
be very effective in helping individuals and families create the lives they
want by enabling development and practice of skills with which to face and
master change.
As representatives of JFS board and staff, we are proud to share some
information about the lives we have been privileged to touch in 2012. We
recognize with sincere appreciation your contributions to making this work
possible. Join us in celebrating 2012 as a year of accomplishments.
Judy Brier Rena Waxman
President, Board of Directors Executive Director
*The Depression Assessment Programs for Seniors (DAPS) is funded by a grant from the Department of Human Services Aging and Adult Services Division, and is a screening and intervention program that integrates depression awareness and management of depression symptoms into existing case management services already offered to seniors.
