Noise Indices• Noise can be measured using many different
indices• In UK the following are commonly used:
LA90 – background noise
LAeq – activity noise (except for road traffic)
LA10 – road traffic
LAmax – activity noise
LA01 – activity noise
• Most other countries use LAeq for all noise and UK is following this approach
