Iaşi is one of the largest cities and a municipality in Romania. Located in the historical Moldavia region, Iaşi has traditionally been one of the leading centres of Romanian social, cultural, academic and artistic life.

Known as The Cultural Capital of Romania, Iaşi is a symbol in Romanian history. The city was the capital Romania from 1916 to 1918.

In Iasi there are over 60 000 students enrolled in technical and theoretical universities . There are 4 public universities ( University of Medicine and Pharmacy, University of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture, Technical

University and Theoretical University) and 7 private.

Here was founded and it still functions the first University in Romania, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, one of the most prestigious academic

institution in the country.
