SOLEMNITY OF MARY, HOLY
MOTHER OF GOD (Vigil) Tuesday, December 31st
5:00pm WEDNESDAY, January 1st
9:30am
T'was the night before Christmas,
God glanced over the earth.
He looked to and fro,
All over it's girth.
They missed it again He said with a sigh,
A heavy heart and a tear in his eye.
I gave them my son,
So they could be free.
My greatest gift,
To them from me.
They traded me in,
For a man in red.
A little tree,
And horse drawn sled.
How do I save them,
And make them see.
My love is complete,
My grace is free.
How do I help them,
When all they know.
Is a talking snowman,
And a box with a bow.
Maybe next year,
they will stop and see.
The greatest gift of Christmas,
Is the little child from me!

Once again, this past year has been marked by so many renovations and restorations to all our church properties. We will continue with our final stage of restoring our beautiful stained glass windows this coming Spring and completing the renovation to our basement. We are still looking into fixing and restoring the much needed work on our church organ. It is truly amazing that Kelly can make it sound as well as it does each week. I am working directly with Mr. John Peragallo, III who is the Grandson of Mr. John Peragallo, Sr. who installed the original organ back in 1947. However, once again this year, I was thinking about offering an opportunity to those who are “making their lists and checking them twice.“ Have you ever thought about buying a present for your church? There are so many things that we use each and every day, like hosts, wine, candles, altar linens and clothes, etc. I thought this year, I would offer anyone who would like to buy a gift for their church (above and beyond their Christmas Offering and Flower Offering). You can select a particular gift you would like to purchase or just make a general donation for liturgical expenses. I know that there are so many areas that people are exceptionally generous to; the Christmas Giving Tree, the Food Pantry, the Thrift Shop and to the weekly collection. But when we are shopping for Christmas parties, relatives and friends, let us not forget our own local church here in Newton. As the old saying goes “Charity begins at home.” Therefore, I have compiled a few gifts you might consider donating to your church for Christmas this year. As always, I am grateful for your continued generosity in supporting all our continuing ministries and outreach programs. May the Lord continue to bless you with His grace and peace for your goodness and kindness.

Grief
The Legend of the Candy Cane
Look at the candy cane. What do you see? Stripes that are red
like the blood shed for me.
White is for my Savior who’s sinless and pure.
“J” is for Jesus, my Lord, that’s for sure! Turn it around
and a staff you will see. Jesus, my shepherd, Was born for me! The reality is that you will grieve forever.
You will not get over the loss of a loved one. You will learn to live with it.
You will heal and you will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered.
You will be whole again but you will never be the same.
Nor should you be the same. Nor would you want to!
Please support those who support us!
