It is a matter of immense pleasure to release prospectus for 9th International Commerce Olympiad 2017. CTF since its inception, is dedicated to the professional growth of Commerce teachers’ community through its various activities. The very pioneering initiative among all itsactivities is the ‘Commerce Olympiad.’

It gives me sense of pride to mention that when CTF conceived the idea of conducting Olympiad, we never thought that this concept would be recognized world wide. In 2009 when it was conducted first time nearly 6000 students appeared. Now it has grown in geometrical proportions. In total nearly 167000 Students from 784 Schools from India and Overseas have taken participation in our previousOlympiads. It shows the value given to the exam by the students and teachers fraternity.

I am delighted to share that Commerce Olympiad has become the part of academic calendar in most of the schools. In today’s scenario when the world has become so competitive, Olympiad plays an important role in giving exposure to the students and make them understand where they stand in terms of clarity of the concepts, in turn it helps them to score better in their board exams, and also gives them a feeling of competitive exams.

At last I would like to extend my hearty thanks and gratitude to all the commerce teachers fraternity, school management and students whose wholehearted support have played catalyst role inthe growth of the Olympiad and CTF.

I take this opportunity to thank the core group members for their consistent and concerted hardwork to make Olympiad a symbol of success.

l Felicitation Functions: It has been the unique concept of its kind we honour the students along with the teachers for their outstanding performance in CBSE Examination/CTF Olympiad. Last function was held at Chinmaya Auditorium, Lodhi Road in 2013. It was 6th function of the organization. After that felicitation is done either at door step of the schools or at workshops.

International Commerce Olympiad: To give the students an exposure to face the l competitive world, and to enable them to test their conceptual clarity and henceforth prepare for Board examinations. Till now CTF has organised seven International Commerce Olympiads.

Quick Score Sample Papers: Developing Sample Papers on Accountancy, Business l Studies and Economics

Workshops: Organising Professional Enrichment Programmes for accelerating professional l growth of commerce teaching fraternity

Excursions: Organising excursions and trips to enhance social ties among the teachers and l rejuvenate their energies.

Members’ Meet: Organising Open House Meet to discuss the organization and preparing l future plans for the growth of the organisation. Its another purpose is to bring transparency in the functioning of the organization. Training Programme: CTF organizes training programme on Computerized Accounting l for CTF’s esteemed members, during summer break.

Milestone - ‘ Celebrating a Decade’

On 13th May, 2017 CTF organized Felicitation Function Milestone –‘Celebrating a Decade’ at Chinmaya Auditorium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi to commemorate its 10 eventful years. CTF was formed on 30th April, 2007 with a vision to provide platform to the commerce teachers fraternity for the mutual sharing of teaching pedagogies, methods and expertise so as to accelerate their professional growth . At this mega event First 100 toppers of International Commerce Olympiad of class XI and XII were felicitated along with their teachers. Overall toppers were honoured with prestigious award Vanijya Shree and First and Second Runner Ups. They were conferred Trophy, Medals and Cash prizes.

On the same day First Executive Body, who initiated the concept of forming this platform was also felicitated, along with 100 members.

The Chief Guest of the Function was Mr. Dilip Kumar Raina, CFO, FICCI, and Guests of Honour were Mr. Rajesh Kumar Sharma, Central Council Member, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Mr. Dhananjay Shukla, Chairman, NIRC, ICSI, Prof. R.P. Rustagi, Principal, Shri Ram College of Commerce, New Delhi. Special Invitees for the event were Dr. G.S. Grewal, Eminent Author, Mr. S.S Sehrawat, Former Dy. Commissioner, KVS.

Principals who rendered great support to CTF in all its endeavours were also felicitated. Teachers who contributed CTF by giving their valuble support were also honoured at the function i.e Mr. Gaurav Palia, Ms. Kavita Sachdeva, Ms. Nameet Chadha, Ms. Shweta Moodgil and Mrs. Sonia Gupta.

Diary of Events during 2016 - 2017

On 9th July, 2016 workshop was held at GD Goenka Public School, Rohini Sector 22, l where nearly 186 teachers from North Delhi, West Delhi, Sonepat, Rohtak and Karnal. Here Mr. G.S Alag, a young author for Business Studies was invited to update all of us

On 16th July, 2016 workshop was held at Air Force Bal Bharati School, Lodhi Road. It l was conducted by Prof. G.S. Grewal. Its matter of pride that despite of heavy rainfall more than 120 teachers attended the workshop.

On 23rd July, 2016 workshop cum Open House Meet was organized at Bal Bharati Public l School, Ganga Ram Hospital Marg, New Delhi. Here In House Resource persons Mrs. Ranjani Rao from ASN Sr. School, Mrs. Kavita Sachdeva from DAV Centenary School and Mr. Rajesh Mahajan enriched the member teachers with the Art of teaching Business Studies. Here 135 members attended the workshop.

On 30th July, 2016 workshop of July month was held at Ahlcon Public School, Mayur l Vihar. Mr. V.Wason was invited to update the teachers on changes in Accountancy.

On 10th December, 2016 A workshop on “Gearing up for the Boards” was conducted by l In House Resource persons at Ram Jas No.4, Pahar Ganj, New Delhi. On the same day Second issue of CTF Quick Score Sample Papers on Accountancy, Business Studies and Economics were also launched.

On 17th December, 2016 moving ahead to cater the need of teachers from schools beyond l Delhi and NCR, the workshop on “Gearing up for the Boards” was organized at Dayavati Modi Academy –II, Modipuram, Meerut (UP) by In House Resource Persons v.i.z Mr. Gaurav Palia and Ms. Kavita Sachdeva. There was enthusiastic response from the teachers.

On 13th May, 2017 a ‘Day of fun’ was organized at Loha Garh Farms, where nearly 45 l CTF members rejuvenated. This initiative was to enhance the social ties among the members as well as to energize them after a long year ‘s hard work with the students .

On 8th July, 2017 a workshop on Accountancy was organized at Cambridge School, l Sriniwaspuri, New Delhi. The resource person for the Workshop was Dr. Vikas Vijay. He not only emphasized on the content, but also on teaching methodology. It was attended by more than 220 teachers from South Delhi schools.

On 29th July, 2017 ‘Professional Enrichment Programme’ i.e Workshop on changes in l Curriculum of Accountancy was conducted at Ryan International School, Rohini, New Delhi. The resource person for the workshop was Prof. V. Wason, It was attended by more than 220 teachers from North and West Delhi.

On 12th August, 2017 another initiative to cater the need of teachers from schools of l Rajasthan, a “Professional Enrichment Programme” i.e Workshop on recent changes in Curriculum of Accountancy and Business Studies was organized at S.V. Public School, Jaipur. It was conducted by In -House Resource persons Mrs. Ranjini Rao and Mr. Gaurav Palia. This workshop was adjudged as one of the best workshop in Jaipur.

On 26th August, 2017 workshop cum Open House Meet cum workshop on Business l Studies was organized at Bal BharatiPublic School, Ganga Ram Hospital Marg, New Delhi. Here In House Resource persons Mrs. Neeru Sethi from G.D Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi & Mrs. Mamta Narula from Delhi Public School, V asant Kunj,New Delhi enriched the member teachers with the Art of teaching Business Studies.

l Moving ahead to cater the need of teachers from southern part of the country, our next workshop is scheduled at Chennai on 9th September, 2017. The venue for the workshop is Modern Senior Secondary School, Chennai. 4


Commerce Olympiad : Pioneering Initiative

From the date of inception CTA has been taking pioneering initiatives furthering the learning and

teaching of commerce subjects. Among them is the Commerce Olympiad which was an experimental venture on

27th November, 2009. The response and enthusiasm shown by the students, Management and the teachers was

beyond appreciation. Nearly 6,000 students appeared at the examination of which approximately 3,600 were

from class XI the rest from XII. It is a matter of pride for CTA that many reputed school made it compulsory for

the students to appear at Olympiad, being voluntary on their part. This response only justified our initiative.

Our Last Olympiad which was 8th International Commerce Olympiad conducted on 25th November

2016. This was conducted in 456 schools of 106 major cities of India and overseas. Nearly 32,000 students from

India and abroad participated in this Olympiad. In all nearly 167,000 students have appeared from 776

schools of India and overseas.

It gives us sense of pride to share that many schools look forward to this prestigious exam, and this

becomes the part of their academic calendar. Further schools make it compulsory event for their students, as it

holds value in the eyes of the teaching community and school management.

The executive Body of CTF extend its gratitude and sincere thanks to the teachers, school management

for their constant and enthusiastic support for making all our Olympiads a resounding success.

As a mark of appreciation and motivation CTF confers “Vanijya Shree“ and “Award for Highest

Participation in Commerce Olympiad” to the deserving students and the schools. For the year 2016 the top

CTF Online Sample Papers … Another Pioneering Initiative CTF has consistently and diligently laying strong foundation for the growth of students and teachers. It has been a launching pad for those who wish to take a plunge into vast ocean of knowledge and information. It is working consistently for the professional growth of the teachers and also for the intellectual development of the students by sharpening their intellect.

CTF realized that students feel lack of confidence and develop phobia to face the examination. To overcome such problems and also to enlighten the students with right approach to face the examination, the core team of CTF forged ahead in 2015 with the initiative to launch Sample Papers on Accountancy and Business Studies. To boost up the morale and performance of students these sample papers were thoughtfully developed by a team of Highly Professional and Experienced teachers from different schools of high repute.

We feel proud to mention that the response and appreciation of the CTF sample papers was beyond explanation. These sample papers proved to be of great help to students to score the best. Positive feedback and its unexpected demand in the past have motivated us to move ahead in this direction with more conviction and determination. Keeping abreast of the time and being concerned towards environment, we have decided to go for paperless society so far as Sample Papers are concerned. CTF is all set for its new venture i.e. ‘Online Sample Papers.’

Shortly we shall be putting the Sample Papers on our website www. ctf.org.in and for this we have allowed protected access to the students of class XII who are participating in International Commerce Olympiad- 2017 at NO ADDITIONAL COST

These students will be given ID (ICO Roll No.) and Password (Mobile No.) to access the Sample Papers.

We are confident that students appearing in CBSE Exam 2018 will find these Online CTF Sample Papers to be handy and of immense utility.

Details of the International Commerce Olympiad -2017

Objectives of International Commerce Olympiad-2017:

Identifying talent in Commerce subjects

Providing an open platform of competition to the young students

Providing opportunities to young and talented students to solve challenging problems in Commerce subjects.

Promoting excellence in Accountancy and Business Studies.

To encourage the students to think beyond the textual knowledge

To assess the conceptual understanding /clarity of the subjects

To develop a feel for competitive exam which the students may pursue after schooling like BBA or CPT exam conducted by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India

To assist in preparing for HOTS as a part of CBSE exams Prizes & Recognition:

Merit Certificate shall be given to all those who secure 60% and above

Participation Certificate shall be given to all those who secure 33% to 59%

A topper with a minimum score of 60% marks of each class (from each school) will make the candidate eligible for a Trophy and Certificate of Excellence.

• Top three students from each school for each class will be awarded with Medals ( Gold, Silver & Bronze)

• Memento to each school in recognition of participation in International Commerce Olympiad -2017

Certificate of Appreciation to coordinators and concerned Accountancy and Business Studies teachers

Overall three toppers of the Olympiad of class XI and XII shall be honoured separately with the title “Vanijya Shree”

GUIDELINES FOR CONDUCTING INTERNATIONAL COMMERCE OLYMPIAD-2017

1. th thOlympiad to be conducted on 17 November, 2017 (Friday) / 28 November (Tuesday) at prescribed time only.

Date once opted will not be changed in any circumstances.

2. Students appearing for the Olympiad should be given training well in advance that “How to fill OMR sheet?”

3. Envelops containing question papers and OMR sheets to be opened on the day of exam only

4. Sitting arrangement has to be made in such a manner that Exam is conducted at fair manner

5. Not more than 20-25 students be accommodated in a single room.

6. OMR sheets to be given to students 15 minutes in advance for filling them.

7. Invigilator should ensure that all Columns in OMR sheet are filled neatly and properly. Incomplete and improper OMR sheet and without signature of invigilator shall be rejected by CTF.

8. OMR sheets to be filled by Blue/Black pen only.

9. For every correct answer one mark shall be allotted and for every wrong answer ¼ mark shall be deducted.

10. Please ensure that student do not use any unfair means

11. No Calculator/Mobile/Electronic device be used during exam.

12. Only those students are permitted to appear for exam, who are registered with CTF for Olympiad purpose. No CHANGE or addition allowed at centre level.

13. While student signing attendance sheet please ensure that they give Answer Sheet serial number, as given at the top right at back side of OMR sheet.

14. In case any student is absent, write ABSENT with Red Pen in Student's signature column in the Attendance sheet

15. It is mandatory to write Mobile No. of candidate, as their respective results shall be sent to them through SMS.

16. Unused OMR sheet for absent student be returned to CTF., whereas unused Question Papers may be retained with the school.

17. Filled OMR sheets along with Respective Attendance sheet be kept in separate envelop as will be provided by CTF

18. Please ensure that enclosed Proforma and Feedback form are also filled and sent to CTF along with Filled OMR sheets after completion of the exam.

19. Please ensure that all the envelops containing OMR Sheets should be properly sealed and duly stamped by School Seal.

20. Envelop containing OMR sheets, Attendance sheet, should be kept in Big sized envelop (That will be provided to you with question papers and OMR sheets) should be dispatched to the below mentioned address on the SAME DAY ONLY, strictly by Hand or Speed Post.
