Rolls Royce Phantom II 1932 Drop Head Sedanca Coupé 1:8 Scale Pocher K72 July 12, 2004 Taking a break from the trunk work (and allowing for dinner with my wife to celebrate our 17 th wedding anniversary), final assembly begins on the doors. Here, the interior panels have been installed and the interior hardware mounted. As planned, the walnut crown and carpet footer hide the mounting screws that were used to mount the interior panels to the wooden center structure. In order to preserve the opportunity to take these apart later (if necessary), double-sided tape has been used to attach the carpet and the slightest amount of blue is used to hold the wooden crown in place.

July 13, 2004 Nothing new here. It’s just coming up on the time when the dash board is going to be installed. Once that’s done, all this beautiful wiring will become invisible except for the center-spine metal conduit that holds the wires for the gauge cluster. Before all of this is lost, I thought I’d shoot a few more pictures since this was one of my favorite parts of building the dash board.

July 13, 2004 Arguably, the most frightening part of the entire project is at hand – attaching the “RR” badge to the front of the radiator housing. As rubber cement will be used, there will be no room for error and not opportunity to do it a second time. After all the work that went into polishing the chrome-plating this assembly, the entire is messing it up with a misplace spec of adhesive has my hands twitching at the worst possible time. This looks like a job my “Daniel’s” hammer (Jack Daniel’s that is…)

July 14, 2004 Before the dash board is installed, the interior of the firewall (bulkhead) is completed. The wiring box on the right and the electrical lines running along the bottom will add some color and authenticity to the overall appearance. Even after the dash board has been installed, this will still be visible to the educated admirer. Also note in this picture that the foot pedals have been installed. It is important to remember to install the front rug before the pedals are mounted on their stalks as the holes in the rug are not big enough to allow for the work to be done in the opposite order.

July15, 2004 With all the interior sub-assemblies completed, it’s time to start putting the passenger and driver compartments together. The first step, after mounting the front seats to the floor board (which has already been carpeted) is to mount the floor board to the top of the chassis. The picture in the top, left-hand corner shows how the rear area of the carpet (that will sit underneath the rear passenger bench) was not glued down. This is to allow for access to the three brass, hex-head bolts that are being used to attach the passenger floor board to the frame rails and rear cross member. Again – this method was used to enable the entire interior structure to be removed should that become necessary at some later date.
