JUNIORS-Monday, May 13th, Tuesday, May 14th, and Wednesday, May 15th. SOPHOMORES-Need official driver’s license-Thursday, May 16th, and Friday, May 17th. FINAL SIGN UP DATES-Monday, May 20th and Tuesday, May 21st You will need: A completed and signed application with a check made out to WHS, or cash in the amount of $20. You will be required to show your valid driver’s license at this time also. New application forms are available online at (https://www.wws.k12.in.us/cms/lib/IN02206768/Centricity/Domain/433/2019-20% 20Parking%20Permit%20Info%20and%20Form.pdf) or at the front information desk. These applications will be received in the main lunchroom during all lunches, for the dates listed above. DO NOT try and turn them in at the front office area as they WILL NOT be accepted. If you have questions please ask. There will be two summer dates for sign up, July 16 and 17th. Hours are 8 a.m. to 12 noon, and 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. both days (a $25 fee will be collected during the summer dates). The permits will be available during all lunches the first week of school. Any senior that didn’t pick up their Josten’s order. Your items are at the Info Desk. If you have not paid for your items yet you will need cash or Money Order. If you prefer to use a credit card you will need to contact Josten’s directly at 800-393-2782. Any Sophomore that was absent for ISTEP English and/or Math testing we will be testing those students on:

Tickets will be delivered to those students (English- Friday, Math- next Tuesday) to remind them of when and where they need to report to It’s the end of the trimester, which means that it is time for the RockStar Award Nomination

Rounds! Each trimester, we recognize five individuals who exemplify the spirit of the RockStar Award. A reminder of what the award is about: The RockStar Award is intended to recognize students and staff who exemplify the qualities like hard work, innovation, dedication, and creativity that we at Westfield High School strive to achieve. These individuals work hard every day to enrich the community as well as the school in all that they do. Each trimester, one student from each grade is chosen as a ROCKStar, as well as one staff member. These faculty members including but not limited to secretaries, counselors, custodial staff, cafeteria workers, and teachers have strong work ethic and commitment to Westfield that make them an integral part of making a great community. When nominating an individual to receive the ROCKStar Award , please include a description of why you think they deserve to be recognized as rock stars. Thank you for your time and kindness in making sure the special people in our school are rewarded for all that they do! This is NOT a drivers’ ed class! We teach car control, skid control, accident avoidance, proper braking, and much more, all in the car the kids drive every day. This class is already more than 30% sold out so act fast. Cost is $95.00 and it can, literally, save your kids’ life. Registration for Summer School through Indiana Online is open! It will run from April 8—May 31, 2019. Students can register at indianaonline.org . Classes run from June 3—July 18, 2019, and all course work must be completed by July 14, with final exams taken during July 15—18, 2019 at Westfield High School. Summer classes are offered at no cost to the student.

Graduating from high school in 2019 and planning to live at home? BAC is the perfect job for you! BAC will work around your college schedule and allows you to work summers too! There are options for AM only, PM only, and AM/PM. The pay is competitive. Reach out to Marci Derado at [email protected] if you are interested.

Immunization Notice for Juniors: The following Immunizations are REQUIRED for Seniors before starting school Fall 2019:

1. 2 nd MCV4 (Meningitis) 2. Hepatitis A #1 & #2

● Requires 2 doses given at least 6 months apart ● If you have not started the Hepatitis A series, the first Hep A should be started ASAP

○ Must have documentation of Hep A #1 + an appointment date for Hep A #2 BEFORE school starts in the Fall

( Immunization EXEMPTIONS - Religious or Medical - can be accepted AFTER Spring Break for the following school year.) WHS students and parents: Please be aware that students may not have food delivered from any outside restaurant delivery service during the school day. ANY exceptions MUST have approval from an administrator. Students who forgot a lunch have the option of eating in one of our cafeterias. We have our main cafeteria that offers multiple food choices each day, our Famous Phil’s shop in the Learning Center that offers sandwiches, and our Box Office Bistro that has pizza every day. Lunch money can be deposited online at any time. If a parent drops off lunch from an outside restaurant it will be kept in the office area and the student it belongs to will be asked to eat that lunch in the office area. Students will not be called to the office to pick up lunch-if you anticipate bringing your child’s lunch to school, please let him or her know beforehand to check in at the office for his/her lunch. WCTA Scholarship Opportunities for Seniors: Information regarding the Westfield Classroom Teachers Association and Vicki Thomas Scholarships are available on Naviance. Applications are due in the Counseling Center by Friday, May 3. Senior End of Year Information has been sent to parents via email. Only $5 to cheer on your local actletes to victory! Attention all current juniors. Are you interested in leading the student section at sporting events? Do you want a say on school spirit days and pep rallies? Do you want to help promote overall school spirit at WHS? If so, there will be a call-out meeting for the 2019-2020 spirit club on Wednesday, May 1 during Rocks Connection in room 1317. ATHLETICS: Girls Varsity Track finishes 6th place at Zionsville High School - Invite. The Westfield Girls Track team took part in the prestigious Zionsville Invite on Friday, April 26th. Finishing 6th, the team showed its mettle as it prepared to start a long postseason run. To highlight the night, senior captain Zoe Pentecost set the new school discus throw record at 122' 9". The previous record, 119' 0", set by LaTanya Fryarson, had stood as the all time best at Westfield since 2003 -- 15 years. Pentecost's great mark earned her a first place finish. Zoe also set a new personal best in the shot put, throwing fo 36' 10.5" and a 6th place finish. Other notable finishes in the track meet included the 4x800 relay squad. Their time of 9:58.58 was strong enough for a second place finish. Sophomore Haley Boehm leapt her way to 6th place in the 100 M Hurdles with a time of 16.40. The 4 x 100 relay team finished in third place with their time of 51.32., and the 4 x 400 squad finished in 4th, running their race in a time of 4:15.87. In the long jump sophomore Madeline Ferreri finished 6th, with a big jump of 15' 10.25". The Rocks will be back in action this Tuesday, April 30th, at the Hoosier Crossroads Conference championships hosted by Hamilton Southeastern High School. Boys Varsity Track finishes 5th place at Zionsville High School Invite. The boys had a solid showing Friday night, finishing 5th in the Zionsville Invite. Scorers on the evening included a 3rd place finish from the 4x800 of Jacob Beene, Max Gutwein, Noah Douthit, and Mahamat Djour, a 2nd place finish for the 4x100 of Francis Agbo, Mason Piening, Cooper Boehm, and Alex Kukura, and a 6th place finish for the 4x400 relay of David Mannella, Djour, Beene, and Joe Harris. In individual events, scorers were Agbo in the 100 and 200, Kukura in the 200, Boehm with a third place in the 110 hurdles, Mannella with a 5th and a PR in the 1600, Justin Homberg with a 3rd in the 400, Djour in the 800, Samuel Novak in the 3200, and Colin Caldwell and Jacob Netral in the shot put and discus. The team is back in action Thursday in the HCC championships at Avon High School. You are invited to come and cheer on our @GoRocksbaseball team to a victory against Zionsville on Friday, May 3rd at 6pm! REMINDER: Medical Information must be submitted through the PARENT PORTAL of PowerSchool in order for your child to be treated in the health clinic. This includes administering Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen. We will not be calling parents for permission to give medications unless the student is significantly ill. This must be updated EVERY School Year. If you have having difficulty getting into your Parent Portal, please contact the Central Office for assistance We have a new security system this year called Safe Visitor . For the safety and security of our students and staff ALL visitors to the school will need to be prepared to show their driver’s license or photo identification as a visitor in our school.
