Dear Families, Happy Fathers’ Day to all our dads, step-dads, grandads and father figures! We hope you had a wonderful day with your families last Sunday and were treated like kings! Thank you to the P&C for organising a wonderful Fathers’ Day Stall over the last three days. Many thanks to our magnificent staff who hosted a fun and engaging Fathers’ Day Activity Afternoon. Matt Whitfield was a terrific host and got our dads involved in dancing and ten-pin bowling! Our special ‘Stormtrooper’ visitor generously posed for photos in the library! Thanks to Melissa, our chaplain, and Sue Magowan for your organisation!

I had the pleasure of seeing our talented Opti-Minds teams perform on Saturday at the Regional Finals at Curtin University. Two teams competed in the Language & Literature Challenge with the themes: “Demise of Mankind” and “Loss of Childhood”. The other team entered the Social Sciences Challenge and explore the history of masks and told stories of four ‘modern day masks’. They did an awesome job and we are very proud of all of them! Thanks to Miss Cull, Mrs Fitz, Mrs Hunt, Mrs Henning, Mrs Mills-Poilly, and Mr Cuder for your leadership of the teams and giving up time after school and during lunchtimes and recesses to help the children practise.

Thank you to our parents who came along to the 125-year celebration organising committee meeting on Monday afternoon. We will update you soon on what we are planning. It is not too late to get involved in any way that suits. Look out for our new Facebook page where we will keep all notices, photos and events relating to next year’s celebration!

Good luck to our Interschool Cross-Country team who are competing in the carnival next Friday 13th September! We are cheering for you all!

We are going Digital!

We are aiming to be a paper-free school for family notices and communication by the end of 2019! Please help us to reach our goal! All our consent forms for incursions, excursions, sport & choir events will be completed online through Care Monkey. If you have not completed your family profile and listed your children, can you please do so as soon as possible? If you need assistance, please come in to the office to see Emma or Claire and they will be delighted to help you.

Payments for any purpose – events, student item lists, voluntary contributions, photos – can be made by direct credit to our school bank account or by using the Qkr app. Please see Emma if you need help in setting up the app on your phone.

We now use Parent Connect for all school communication instead of Skoolbag. This is provided free by the Department of Education and you should have received an email with your login details. We will place notices, the newsletter, and any important forms or brochures on the Parent Connect site for you to read or download.

Our school also uses Seesaw as a digital portfolio of student work, photos, and notices from teachers. You can download the app and get a QR code from your child’s teacher to connect to their journal. We have a Facebook page also where we share school news.

Sports Day

Dear Families, Please join us for our Sports Day, which will be held on the school oval on:

Wednesday, 18th September 2019

Commencing at 8.45am and concluding at approximately 11am.

Please bring a rug and/or a folding chair and find a spot behind the cones on the big oval to watch the classes march out.

Each class will rotate through team events and then have their running races. Games and races are participation events only so we do not have winning places.

Bring along your running shoes and have-a-go at the parents running race! There will also be a toddler race.

We will conclude our Sports Day with a picnic lunch in the Early Childhood playground. Please either pack your child’s lunch in their school bag or bring along a picnic lunch to share with them.

Children need a HAT, WATER BOTTLE, CRUNCH AND SIP and SNEAKERS. Faction shirts are optional as children are participating in class groups (not factions).

If Wednesday the 18th of September isn’t your child’s Kindy day (Kangaroos and Possums) they are still invited to attend. However these children must be picked up from school at 11.00, or they can stay with their parents to enjoy the picnic lunch.

Regards,

Kindy and Pre-Primary staff

We are introducing QKR! Qkr is a secure and easy way to make payments to the school from your phone. You will still be able to pay the school via our usual methods however, Qkr is now our preferred payment method and we encourage you to embrace this option as we attempt to minimise the amount of cash being handled by your children and the school.

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any queries.
