Rock the Flower Show Floor at “Flowers After Hours” Special evening and weekend events set for dancers, dogs, and bears

PHILADELPHIA – From dancing to dog-walking to tea with a Teddy bear, there are

special ways to experience the 2017 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show, “Holland:

Flowering the World,” from March 11 through 19 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

This year’s Flower Show will feature new events, as well as favorites from Flower

Shows past. Highlights this year include:

Flowers After Hours: The Flower Show introduces a fantastic new way to experience

the exhibits and excitement of the show on opening day, Saturday, March 11. From

9:30 p.m. to midnight, the show floor turns into a giant dance floor with an “I Love the

‘90s” party theme. Hosted by WXPN’s Kristen Kurtis, the party will feature Philly rocker

Tommy Conwell performing live. DJ Robert Drake, producer and host of “Land of the

Lost” on XPN, will also spin throwback tunes from the memorable musical decade.

Tickets are $65 in advance and $75 at the door.

Fido Friday: Dogs love gardens, and gardeners love their dogs. The Flower Show

invites four-legged and two-legged friends to enjoy the wonderful scenes and scents of

the show together on Friday, March 17. “Yappy Hour” will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the

World Market in the Grand Hall, and canine and human companions can roam the

exhibition halls until closing. Dogs must have tags and proof of current rabies vaccine.

Show-goers with dogs must enter through the Market Street entrance and may NOT

use the escalators for safety reasons. See safety guidelines here. Dogs are free, but

humans must have a show ticket.

Teddy Bear Tea: Children are encouraged to bring their favorite bear or other plush

friend and their families to the Teddy Bear Tea on Sunday, March 19 at 11:30 a.m. in

the Garden Tea room. The day includes entertainment and a delicious menu of ham

and cheese and sun butter and jam sandwiches, a chocolate cream puff, and tea. Four

or five guests are seated at each table. Tickets are $28 per person and must be

reserved in advance online. No tickets are sold on site. Space is limited.
