Paddypower Betfair Plc July 2015 – CurrentAn online sports betting company, offering the ability to bet on any sports, operating in multiple countries.Junior Software Developer Working with a team of developers to develop sports trading software for the in house trading staff which allows them to keep betting prices up to date and accurate for customers. C#: Successfully created an automated XML feed service which connects to an external feed provider and reformats incoming feed messages to fit existing architecture. Also worked on a sports resulting service for NBA to allow for resulting of markets based on in game events. Specflow/NUnit Testing: Any and all software written in house must be accompanied by a suite of tests to cover all code written. I have successfully written suites of tests using both Specflow and NUnit. Kanban/Agile: All projects that I have worked on & completed have been broken down using agule and lean methodologies to ensure that the projects are delivered in a timely and efficient manner.

The Email Laundry Mar 2014 – Aug 2014An email security, archiving and branding Sass company with clients/partners in Ireland, the UK and the US.Software Development (Intern)Collaborated with senior developer to implement and upgrade parts of the customer facing cloud portal system.• PHP/AJAX/jQuery: Successfully implemented an automated search & email function within the customer cloud portal, increasing customers search results from 50 per page to a maximum of 35,000 in a CSV file, thereby reducing search time for customers.• MySQL: Used calls from PHP in conjunction with jQuery and AJAX to query a MySQL database based on criteria entered by customer and return results that are compiled into a CSV file and emailed to the customer.• Problem Solving: Talking with 10 to 20 customers daily to diagnose any problems they were having with the email security system, and then working through to a solution the customer was happy with and escalating any problems I couldn’t deal with personally.
STUDENT LIFE AND VOLUNTEERISM
Software Development Course – Class representative: 38 Students in class. Helped students struggling with workload by organising catch-up sessions in the evening and weekends. Communicated with lecturers and head of year in regard to exam and coursework scheduling issues. (2012-2015)
Coder Dojo – Mentor: Supervised secondary school children who were learning JavaScript using the Code Academy online platform. This enabled them to understand the basics of coding and therefore better prepared them for college courses. (2014)
RELEVANT PROJECTS
eye-Spi Video Surveillance System: Sole author of this final year college project. Implemented primarily in python and using MySQL databases, a virtual private server (Linux), apache web server, OpenCV and the python flask micro framework. This project is an active video surveillance system capable of picking out a human presence in a scene and alerting the user, whilst ignoring all other objects in the scene.
