We are Jenn and Doug Mitchell. Our farm is at 5876 2nd Line E. Ariss, 10 minutes north of Guelph, ½ way to Elora. We started farming with our dream property and not an ounce of knowledge. Over 7 years we’ve learned a great deal, enjoyed ourselves, and are building a nice little farm. We currently have 4 beef calves, 2 lambs, 7 ducks, and 50 chickens. Throughout the year, we also raise 2-3 pigs, ~ 20 turkeys, and 75 meat chickens.

We’re small and diverse - with our small size, we give our animals the best care and attention we can. We’re not certified organic, but we abide by principles that are natural, simple, and that are sustainable. We eat our own products, to be confident of the quality. We’re also very local - if you want to come for a farm tour, we love for our customers to see the life of the animals that give delicious food.

Throughout the year, different meat products are available. Here’s an overview of what is typically available (limited quantities exist, or available at specific times of the year). Contact me if you’re interested in something different, or a large order (eg. a side of beef or a whole pig).

PORKOur pigs were fed a balanced diet of a daily ration of grains, supplemented with vegetable scraps from a local commercial kitchen. These pigs had a great temperament and were a real pleasure to have around.

OTHERTurkeys are such social and talkative animals. The chickens and turkeys graze in a roaming ‘cackellac’ (chicken tractor) that moves to fresh pasture every day, giving lots of grasses and insects to eat, while keeping them safe from predators. Maple syrup is such a pleasure as the first product of the year, reduced from sap gathered from our own trees in a small commercial evaporator burning our own wood – ultimate local.

If you’re interested in trying venison, I often have summer sausage (spiced with peppercorns and mustard seeds) or ground venison (mixed with a little pork to make it moist and full of flavor).

DISCOUNTS/BOXESMake your own box of mixed products. Larger orders (> $200) will have incremental discounts applied – the more you buy, the more you save.

Eg. 1 beef roast, 2 pkg steaks, 4 lbs ground beef, 1 ham, 2 lbs ground pork, 2 coils of sausage, 1 pkg pork chops, 2 pkg bacon, and maple syrup for ~ $210 (actual products/weights will calculate the final price, with a discount applied).
