A unit must complete all of the following requirements to be awarded the District Key 3 Quality Unit Leader’s Award
at the District Dinner on April 14, 2016.
1 _______Unit earns the 2015 District Advancement Award
2 _______Unit submits an annual report of camping activity to the District Camping Chair.
3 _______Unit earns the 2015 District Camping Award.
4 _______Unit provides the District Commissioner with a copy of its 2015 annual program calendar.
5 _______Unit submits at least one article for publication on the District Website/District
Newsletter about the unit and its activities. (Must be submitted between Jan 1, 2015-
Mar 4, 2016)
6 _______Unit participates in at least one community service project during the calendar year, in
addition to Scouting For Food, and provides a written summary of the project to the District Activities
Chair or Vice Chair.
7 _______Unit attends at least six (6) District Roundtable Meetings during the period of August 2015
through March 2016.
8 _______Unit achieves 100% Youth Protection Training for registered adult leaders and 50% of adult
leaders are trained as of 12/31/2015.
9._______ Unit has had at least 2 members serve on any district event: twilight camp: cub safe shoot; cam-
poree; merit badge college; district dinner; district training between Jan 2015 and March 2016.
10 _______Unit properly files an application for the Key 3 Quality Unit Leader’s Award with the
District Vice Chair OR Activities Chair no later than March 4, 2016.

It's SCOUTING FOR FOOD time!! As we approach February-March, our unit Scouting for Food drives should be in full
swing. Whether you are passing out flyers or knocking on doors food will begin to
"feed" the local food banks. Please come to the February round table meeting early
to check out a zone from Monica Pattillo (SFF District Chair). You will need the num-
ber of scouts signed up for your event to know how many zones to check out. Each
zone can be covered with 2 scouts (with supervision) in 1-2 hours. If your unit is un-
able to send a representative, please email Monica
@ [email protected]. Please include your unit number, contact name, phone
number, and how many zones you would like to check out for your unit. Reminder
that Scouting for Food patches should be available for all those who participate AND

Twilight camp 2016
Come experience the wonderful world of CSI with your friends and
family. Scouts will enjoy games, crafts, and activities with a science/
first aid twist. The Scout registration fee of $95 will include a t-shirt,
patch, and hat for the event. Every Pack should have already desig-
nated a Pack Representative and they are to attend meetings to keep
everyone on track with announcements and paperwork for all volun-
teers, scouts and siblings. The earlier you get it together the more pre-
pared camp will be. We look forward to seeing you at the Villages of
Bear Creek Park in Euless, TX on June 6-10, 2016.

Troop 324 Rifle & Shotgun Annual Camp 2016
On January 15th 2016, Troop 324 met at Philip Presbyterian Church to head out to Bowie, Texas for
our annual Rifle & Shotgun Camp. We met up with Troop 2020 from Haslet, Texas who joins our
Troop the last few years for this annual campout. We get to the private ranch and unpack our per-
sonal gear and tents. After a lot of cooperation and perseverance we got all 4 patrols set up and ready
to sleep. We all hopped into our sleeping bags knowing from many previous years that the next
morning would be bone-chillingly cold and we would all bare through it with a smile on our faces.
At 7:30a.m. the SPL and ASPL's got up and trudged around to everyone’s tents and gave us all a
hearty "GOOD MORNING!" which succeeded in waking up the more "responsive" Scouts, but be-
ing the young men we are a few boys tried to stay in the warm embrace of sleep for a tad longer.
Soon after everyone was up we all cooked and ate a hot breakfast and attended a Safety Shoot (see
poster picture) and prepared for a day of shooting. By the time everything was set and done and the
ranges were open it felt as if the chilled air bit at your face and hands. Rifle and Shotgun ranges
alike were packed full of eager Scouts hoping to test their skills against many friends.
Lunch had come around before it felt like anything had started. Distracted by food not too many no-
ticed how cold it had become but soon we realized just how freezing it was when snowflakes began
to descend upon the camp. Massive snow-
flakes kept falling and falling, up until it was
time to shoot again. We continued the rest of
our day having fun and complaining very
quietly about the cold.
Sunday morning came with a firm icy grip on
everyone, but even though we all were cold,
we got camp packed up, had a nice religious
service and headed out on the 18 degree
morning of January 17th with smiles on our
faces.

Life Scout, Troop 324
Roadies for a Night – Ordinary People, Extraordinary Service!
It’s always exciting to give service and volunteer when called upon. Many times it’s to help a
cleanup day at a church, loading food for those in need or spending time at a local nursing
home. Both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts participate in rewarding service all the time. But
sometimes, a unique and rare service opportunity presents itself as it did for Crew 14!
On Thursday, January 21st the Crew was asked to give service at NorthWood Church located in
Keller, for a concert event, Dare to Be, held by 4 time Grammy Award nominated Natalie
Grant and Charlotte Gambill, author, speaker and pastor, leading Life Church, UK England.
Crew 14 helped by receiving offering and passing out donation cards for Hope for Justice, a
foundation restoring girls rescued from human trafficking. The offering raises money for local
women with very hard life struggles to give something back to them.
The Crew also helped unload, break down
and load concert equipment with Natalie’s
crew. They had a great time and although it
was a long evening, it was worth every bit
for our scouts and scouters to give service for
such a worthy cause.

Pack 307
Pinewood Derby 2016
Pack 307 had an amazingly special Pinewood Derby this year. Not only did we have our Cubs
and Siblings race but this year we added a twist and included Alumni. Our Cubmaster took
time to ask our local troops if they had any alumni of our Pack that were wanting to come back
for a night of fun. We ended up with 6 Boy Scouts from 3 Troops attend and race in their own
division. Each Boy Scout stated this was a great way to reminisce of old times and thanked the
pack for this opportunity. They can’t wait to attend again and we hope we can continue this tra-
dition for years to come.
We would like to thank all who helped make this event a success including an amazing parent,
Bobby McCraken, who opened up his home to all participants to come cut their cars out in his
garage. It was the first time we held our own workshop and all parents appreciated it. We also
want to thank the extended family who came out to show support and all the wonderful dona-
tions for FOS and Crestmont Baptist Church (who brings out their race track for our families).
It was a great January night to remember.

Troop 509 Dine with 509 at Red Robin
Troop 509 has been doing "Dine with 509" to raise money for summer camp. We have eaten at several restaurants. On Monday, January 18th, Troop 509 held a “Dine with 509” at Red Robin. Many members of our
troop attended this event, and the scouting spirit was alive and well. You could hear lots of fellowship as scouting families greeted each other. We all
enjoyed ourselves. Overall, we made $200 toward our goal of getting to summer camp. Troop 509 will be going to Camp Alexander in Colorado
this June. We look forward to a great time at camp this summer.
