Aluminium industry's sustainability criteria open for publicconsultationIndustry representatives including Tetra Pak have put forward criteria for a global
standard for sustainable aluminium production. The standard is part of the
IUCN-led Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI), whose aim is to foster
responsible environmental, social and governance performance throughout the
entire aluminium value chain. The criteria are now open for public consultation.

Release of the IPCC Working Group II report - Yokohama, JapanThe UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will release the
second part of its benchmark Assessment Report 5 (AR5) in March in Yokohama,
Japan. The second report, called Working Group II, will assesses the vulnerability
of socio-economic and natural systems to climate change, negative and positive
consequences of climate change, and options for adapting to it.

Release of the IPCC Working Group III report - Berlin, GermanyOptions for mitigating climate change will be the focus of the third Working Group
report (WG III) to be released by the IPCC to be released in April. The panel will
assess options for mitigating climate change through limiting or preventing
greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing activities that remove them from the
atmosphere. The main economic sectors are taken into account, both in a
near-term and in a long-term perspective.

Pre-COP20 meeting - Caracas, VenezuelaThis is a build up to the actual COP20 being held in Lima, Peru in December this
year. Venezuela has already indicated that it will be more of a « People’s Summit »
focusing on the inputs of NGOs, civil society and social movements.

Leaders Summit on Climate Change - New York, USAThis event is now formally in the UN calendar and is being held traditionally when
the General Assembly session opens. The Summit is aimed at catalyzing action by
governments, business, finance, industry, and civil society in areas for new
commitments and substantial, scalable and replicable contributions to the Summit
that will help the world shift toward a low-carbon economy.

COP20 (UN climate negotiations) - Lima, PeruThe 2014 conference will be the last meeting before the 2015 Paris conference,
where all countries are expected to establish a legally binding global warming pact.
The deal would then come into force in 2020.
