RailNewcastle  is an intensive programme in Rail

& Logiscs taking place at Newcastle University between23rd June and 11th July 2014. The programme puts

an emphasis on the growing interest in rail freight and

passenger services and internaonal aspect of logiscs,

which promotes safer and more secure rail transport

systems, more mature and environmentally friendly

distribuon of freight, more ecient railway operaons.

LecturersExperts from academia and industry deliver talks

structured along ve themac days, supervise studentsand parcipate in networking events.

The ProgrammeWeek 1: 23rd June - 27th June

Lectures

Monday: Rail Transport, Logiscs and Supply Chain

Management;

Tuesday: Rail, Mul Modal Transport and Energy;

Wednesday: Rail Infrastructure, High Speed and ITS;

Thursday: Rail Vehicles, Safety and Security;Friday: Rail Operaons, Trac Control and the

Environment.

Week 2: 30th June - 4th July

Student-led group research projects.

Week 3: 7th July - 11th July

Technical visits, workshops, themac seminars,

networking.

RailNewcastle is delivered jointly by ten European

universies in Newcastle upon Tyne since 2012. Over 50

students and 20 professors were involved in previous

edions of RailNewcastle enjoying teaching and learning

acvies as well as mulcultural environment. The

programme promotes innovaon in railway educaon

and training and provides the necessary skills for

prospecve careers in the railway sector.
