Árkád Szeged
Point of attraction in the City of Sunshine
The Árkád is located in the heart of Szeged and was opened on October 4, 2011. The outstanding location, a tailor-made
branch and tenant mixture as well as the individual architectural concept lead to the fact that it has already become a
point of attraction in the city of Szeged. Árkád Szeged has been constructed on the premises of a former hemp-spinning
factory. Some of the historic façades were reconstructed and integrated in the center. In reference to the City of
Sunshine, the interior of Árkád Szeged has a sunny appaerance, marked by broad spaces, brightly coloured surfaces and
a golden rotunda as heart of the center.

Thinking and acting sustainably – from planning to operation. At ECE this holistic approach is the basis of the
future-oriented corporate philosophy. Thus, ECE composed and published a Sustainability Manual for Shopping
Centers together with the University of Karlsruhe. The shopping center was awarded the Certificate in Gold by
the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The center provides technical facilities of highest quality,
which help to reduce energy consumption and secure a low air and noise emission. Furthermore, ecological
construction materials were used for building the shopping complex.
