PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

• MPBN Migration of Data Services on to new advance hardware

Migration of all 2G/3G/4G traffic cases, from old Firewall, switches and routers to new more powerful HW platforms such

are Juniper SRX, RedBack Smart Edge, and Extreme Black Diamond series.

• Charging System 5, MPBN Integration (Technical Lead)

Integration of New CS5 HW platform into the MPBN Network, consisting of New Voucher Server, New AIR Server, and

new EMC Storage. Interconnectivity between nodes was established.

• LTE Roaming via point-to-point link using Public Address NAT

As a test project we established a point to point link between local operator and another neighbouring operator, using

Public IP NAT by using DIP and MIP for address translations

• Voice Mail System integration to Provisioning System (Technical Lead)

VMS (3PP) system was integrated to Provisioning system and appropriate FW policies and port were permitted in the

Firewall.

• Firmware/SW upgrade of all platforms (Technical Lead)

As part of maintenance, all Firmware/SW levels must be kept up to date which includes the latest correction packages,

which safe guards against known issues. This is done on regular basis at least every quarter.

• Multi-site SMSC System integration into network (Technical Lead)

Two Geographically redundant SMSC platforms were integrated using VPNs over MPLS Network

• Traffic Engineering using LAG to improve 3G/4G Data Throughputs (Technical Lead)

Traffic degradation was observed in Site Router 4x1 GE PIC module, upon investigation it was learned that the backplane

of this PIC only support 1Gb throughput, and this was a bottleneck in the existing LAG which had more than 1 members

on the same PIC, hence new LAG was established over several PICs to attain true 1 Gbps throughputs per link

• Integration of Network Elements with NTP, OSS and LI system (Technical Lead)

All systems integrated to the MPBN network, are connected to NTP server for Time Sync, OSS for Fault Management and

Network Stats.

• SGSN-MME IuPS, Gr over IP and Gb over IP Migration

Links were migrated from traditional transmission to over IP, this increased the throughputs required for 3G/4G traffic

and the relevant signalling

• Hard-cutover of GGSN from Juniper M20 to M120 Platform (Technical Lead)

The old J20 GGSN was migrated to a brand new Juniper M120 GGSN. Pre-study and analysis required mapping of old

ports to new Faster port on the new HW. During cutover, the HW was brought into service by physically moving the

cables during a maintenance window.

• HLR1 O&M integration to Mobile Soft Switch network (Technical Lead)

There was no O&M network for MSS in this site, a completely new network using a new subnet was created using sub-

interface on Firewall as default gateway, and then access was configured onwards to other nodes.

• Corporate Access Solution implementation (Technical Lead)

There were 2 solutions for this, one way was to use direct point to point connectivity between enterprise and operator’s

MPBN without transiting the Internet, the second way was to use IPSEC VPNs over the Internet to establish connectivity.

• Mobile Number Portability adaptation on Network Elements/Systems

This required system changes in the Message over IP and Video Conferencing solution, where changes had to be done to

accept a-number ranges from all operators of Bahrain.

PREVIOUS PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE (BAHRAIN)
