Dr. Beth E. Rivin, M.D., M.P.H. is Research Associate Professor of Law and directs the Global Health and Justice Project, a multidisciplinary project that is based at the University of Washington (UW) School of Law. The project encompasses academic activities at UW, as well as field activities in developing countries in collaboration with the Seattle-‐based NGO, Uplift International. Dr. Rivin is also Vice President of Programs at Uplift International. At UW, Dr. Rivin also has appointments in the Schools of Medicine and Public Health. She is Adjunct Research Associate Professor of Global Health and Bioethics and Humanities. Dr. Rivin is faculty in the UW’s Center for Human Rights and SE Asia Center in the Jackson School. She is a Board Member of the UW Center for Global Field Studies. Dr. Rivin also has been instrumental in forming a global network of universities, launched at the 2012 World Congress of Bioethics,
aimed at building clinical and research ethics capacity in medical schools in Asia. After receiving a Fulbright Senior Scholar Award in Indonesia in 2011-‐2012, Dr. Rivin became a Visiting Professor at the University of Gadjah Mada Faculty of Medicine in Jogjakarta, Indonesia. Dr. Rivin has worked in global health and development for 30 years, with a particular focus on Indonesia-‐based activities since 1999. Her broad professional experience ranges from clinical pediatrics and adolescent medicine to field research, epidemiology, emergency humanitarian assistance and public health and human rights program development and evaluation. In addition to domestic work and her work in Indonesia, Dr. Rivin has field experience in China, Cambodia, Haiti, India, Israel, Nepal, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Tajikistan. She has consulted with Ministries of Health, large governmental and international organizations, such as the U.S. Agency for International Development, the World Health Organization, and various non-‐governmental organizations.
