Just as there is physical drought in sub-
Saharan Africa, we cannot deny the fact that we
ourselves may be experiencing spiritual drought
in our lives. We have become dry in believing
that God can work miracles, that He is our
Healer, our Provider, our Comforter.
As medical professionals, our working
environment is quite negative, as we see
disease, suffering, brokenness and
hopelessness first hand. You see, God has
already done a new thing, but it’s up to us to see
it and recognise it.
we cannot use the same methods and expect
different results, nor keep on bumping into the
same walls following our usual route. Therefore
we must open our spiritual eyes and see the
paths God has set out for us in order to be
whole.
So before we attempt to fill the streams of the
people we serve, we need to ensure that our
own rivers are flowing. Our rivers will flow with
God’s Living Water and flow to each person we
see in our consultation rooms and the
community at large.
"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up:
do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the
desert and streams in the wasteland to give
drink to my people, my chosen, the people I
formed for myself that they may proclaim my
praise"
Isaiah 43:19
God can surprise us in the midst of
adversity, challenges, and dryness. As
individuals we need a new revelation from God
to spur us on and proclaim Him. Our nations
may be facing harsh situations, yet in that
midst, God will still arise. In this we have hope,
and no need to despair. As health professionals,
'wounded healers', we can acknowledge our
source of strength, and go out and bless
communities in His Strength.
The weekend messages are filled with wonderful
topics which we can apply in our lives as health
professionals in the twenty-first century. There
will be plenty of time to discuss what you hear
in the talks and the seminars.
We look forward to having you!
