Riverhill Reporter August 2018

Riverhill Membership,

Over the past year, we have made several key new hires to The Club. Our goal is to build and develop an extraordinary team, providing the best experiences for our membership. With that said, I would like to welcome our new Event Manager, Jennifer Gibson to Riverhill Country Club. Jennifer has years of experience in Group and Event Sales. She is highly skilled in customer service training and operations. Jennifer is another great addition to our team.

Together, we have made tremendous strides in the past few years at Riverhill Country Club. Together with our Membership, The Club has grown, and activity has reached levels of activity that begin to define success. Although we still have room to grow and improve, our mentality is to always strive for better and continue providing a great product for each of our members.

Thank you for all the positive comments that have been received about our Club. I am proud of our staff and the direction that Our Club is moving in. Keep inviting your friends to The Club – it is making a difference. We would love to welcome them as a part of the Riverhill Family. Riverhill Proud!!

From the Desk of Bryan Hargrove Membership Director I want to give our members a heads up that we will be going paperless as much as possible when it comes to monthly statements. Whoever’s name is on the monthly statement will be receiving the monthly statement via email. We will begin this process on the November 1st statement. If you do not have email, then you will not be affected. Please help us by letting us know if your email address has changed recently.

A growing membership means a growth in participation at our events. It has been wonderful to see that in our dining events. The word continues to get out that Chef Blas and his staff is putting a good product out to our members. If you haven’t been to Wednesday or Friday night dining, or the Sunday Brunch, please give it try. You will be glad you did.

The referral program is still going. Bring in a new member and receive credit on your account equal to 1 month’s dues after 3 months.

I would like to express a heartfelt “Thank You” from my family to all of our members for your thoughts and prayers concerning my daughter Alicia. I am thrilled to report that we received word last month that she is cancer free. You can’t say enough about the power of prayer. Thank You so much!!!

Bryan Hargrove Membership Director

Welcome to our new members who joined last month:

Men’s Golf Association (MGA)

It is August, when the land is filled with Texans – in New Mexico and Colorado! But if you are one of the hardy souls staying in South Texas for the month, Riverhill and the MGA is here for you with free ice water!

Seriously, we’ve had a good first half of the year. We’ll tolerate August and then head into a great fall, no doubt. The August schedule includes three play days, including – as always – a special event.

• Thursday, August 9th, is the big ‘6/6/6’ tournament, with hot dogs and beer after golf. The ‘6/6/6’ was a crowd favorite last year, and will be this year as well. To beat the heat, we’ll start at 8:30AM, sharp!

• The following Thursday, August 16th, is Individual Stableford play, also at 8:30AM. I always like Stableford, as I can just write off my blow-up holes and move on.

• We take a little break from there and reconvene on the 25th of August at 9:30AM. That’s a Saturday, so those of you still burdened with employment can join in for the 2 Net Best of 3 or 4. This is a team event, with teams assigned by the pro-shop.

When you are playing, make sure to stay hydrated! And no, beer does not count as ‘hydration’. When you are not playing, take a break and jump in the pool. It’s that big hole full of water up past the exercise room.

My shout-out this month just has to go to the ground keepers. I simply can’t believe that the course looks this good in this heat with so little rain! Which reminds me, please do your very best to preserve the course in this stressful weather. Those concrete things that wind around the course? They are called ‘cart paths’. Please use them as much as possible.

Riverhill Women’s Golf Association

You bet July was hot, but we had fun with a scramble and par three play!

The August meeting will begin at 8:00 a.m. on the 8th, followed by a scramble at 9:00. There are other fun games each Wednesday to get us through the doldrums. Refer to your Directory for more information and descriptions. Don’t have a Directory? They are available at the Pro Shop.

The Riverhill Ladies’ Club Championship will be held Friday and Saturday, September 14th and 15th which means it’s time to sign up in the Pro Ship! This is a flighted event with great prizes, food, and drink. The entry fee and meal are covered by your RWGA dues so clear your calendar and start tuning up for this premier event.

An important part of the RWGA is enjoying time playing with friends and relaxing in the Turning Point after a round. We might think everyone knows, but it bears repeating that golf with friends makes life a lot better. Sign up for the next play day and bring your smile.
