RIVER CENTRAL SCHOOL DIS-
TRICT SUFFOLK COUNTY, NEWYORKNOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that
a Public Hearing of the qualified votersof the Shoreham-Wading River CentralSchool District, Suffolk County, NewYork will be held at the Miller AvenueElementary School All Purpose Room,#3 Miller Avenue, Shoreham, New York,in said school district on May 5, 2015 at7:00 PM prevailing time, for the trans-action of business as authorized by theEducation Law, including the followingitems:
1. To present to the voters a detailedstatement (proposed budget) of theamount of money which will be requiredfor the 2015-2016 fiscal year.
2. To discuss all the items hereinafterset forth to be voted upon by voting ma-chines at the Budget Vote and Electionto be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015.
3. To transact such other business asmay properly come before the meet-
ing pursuant to Education Law of theState of New York and acts amendatorythereto.
A copy of the proposed budget shallbe made available, upon request, toresidents of the school district beginningApril 28, 2015, between the hours of 9:00AM and 3:00 PM, prevailing time, exceptSaturday, Sunday or holidays, at the of-fice of the District Clerk, District Office,250B Route 25A, Shoreham, New York.
AND FURTHER NOTICE ISHEREBY GIVEN, that said BudgetVote and Election will be held on Tues-day, May 19, 2015, between the hours of7:00 AM and 9:00 PM, prevailing time, atwhich time the polls will be opened tovote by voting machine upon the follow-ing items:
PROPOSITION #1Budget
To adopt the annual budget of theSchool District for the fiscal year 2015-2016 and to authorize the requisite por-tion thereof to be raised by taxation onthe taxable property of the District.ELECTION OF BOARD MEMBERS
To elect two (2) members of the Boardof Education for three year terms com-mencing July 1, 2015 and expiring on June30, 2018.
AND FURTHER NOTICE ISHEREBY GIVEN, that a copy of thestatement of the amount of money whichwill be required to fund the School Dis-trict’s budget for 2015-2016, exclusive ofpublic monies, may be obtained by anyresident of the District between the hoursof 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM beginning April28, 2015, except Saturday, Sunday or holi-days, at the District Office, 250B, Route25A, Shoreham, New York and at eachschool house in the District.
AND FURTHER NOTICE ISHEREBY GIVEN, that pursuant toChapter 258 of the Laws of 2008, Section495 was added to the Real Property Tax
Law, and requires the School District toattach to its proposed budget an exemp-tion report. Said exemption report, whichwill also become part of the final budget,
will show how much of the total assessedvalue on the final assessment roll usedin the budgetary process is exempt fromtaxation, list every type of exemptiongranted, identified by statutory authority,and show: (a) the cumulative impact ofeach type of exemption expressed eitheras a dollar amount of assessed value or as
a percentage of the total assessed valueon the roll; (b) the cumulative amountexpected to be received from recipientsof each type of exemption as payments inlieu of taxes or other payments for mu-nicipal services; and (c) the cumulativeimpact of all exemptions granted. Theexemption report shall be posted on anybulletin board maintained by the Districtfor public notices and on any websitemaintained by the District.
AND FURTHER NOTICE ISHEREBY GIVEN, that petitionsnominating candidates for the officeof member of the Board of Educationshall be filed with the District Clerkof said School District at her office inthe District Office, 250B Route 25A,Shoreham, New York, not later thanMonday, April 20, 2015, between 9:00AM and 5:00 PM, prevailing time. Thepresent incumbents whose terms areexpiring are Michael Fucito and Rob-ert Rose. Vacancies on the Board of
Education are not considered separate,specific offices; candidates run at large.Nominating petitions shall not describeany specific vacancy upon the Boardfor which the candidate is nominated;must be directed to the District Clerk;must be signed by at least 26 qualifiedvoters of the District (representing thegreater of 25 qualified voters or 2% ofthe number of voters who voted in theprevious annual election); must statethe name and residence of each signer,and, must state the name and residenceof the candidate. Notice is further given,that the names of the candidates for theBoard of Education will be drawn by loton Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at 3:30 PMprevailing time, at the Office of the Dis-trict Clerk, to determine the position oftheir names on the ballot.
AND FURTHER NOTICE ISHEREBY GIVEN, that personal regis-tration of voters is required either pur-
suant to §2014 of the Education Law orpursuant to Article 5 of the Election Law.If a voter has heretofore registered pur-suant to §2014 of the Education Law andhas voted at an annual or special districtmeeting within the last four (4) calendaryears, he or she is eligible to vote at thiselection. If a voter is registered and eligi-ble to vote under Article 5 of the ElectionLaw, he or she is also eligible to vote atthis election. All other persons who wishto vote must register.
The Board of Registration will meetfor the purpose of registering all qualifiedvoters of the District pursuant to §2014of the Education Law on May 14, 2015(voter registration deadline), between thehours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, prevail-ing time, to add any additional names tothe Register to be used at the aforesaidelection, at which time any person will beentitled to have his or her name placedon such Register, provided that at suchmeeting of the Board of Registration he
or she is known or proven to the satis-faction of said Board of Registration tobe then or thereafter entitled to vote atsuch election for which the register is pre-
pared. The Register so prepared pursuantto §2014 of the Education Law will befiled with the District Clerk, 250B Route25A, Shoreham, New York, and will beopen for inspection by any qualifiedvoter of the District beginning on Thurs-day, May 14, 2015, between the hours of8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, prevailing time, on
weekdays, and each day prior to the dayset for the election, except Sunday, andon Saturday, May 16, 2015, between thehours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, and at thepolling place(s) on the day of the vote.
AND FURTHER NOTICE ISHEREBY GIVEN, that pursuant to§2014 of the Education Law of the Stateof New York, the Board of Registrationwill meet on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 (dayof vote), between the hours of 7:00 AMand 9:00 PM, prevailing time, to preparethe Register of the School District to beused at the Budget Vote and Election tobe held in 2016, and any special districtmeetings that may be held after the prep-aration of said Register, at which timeany person will be entitled to have his orher name placed on such Register pro-vided that at such meeting of said Boardof Registration he or she is known orproven to the satisfaction of such Boardof Registration to be then or thereafterentitled to vote at the school election for
which said Register is prepared, or anyspecial district meeting held after May19, 2015.
