OTHER POINTS OF INTEREST LA PURISIMA MISSION was founded in 1787 as a link in the chain of California missions established to bring Christianity to the Chumash Indians. The chapel, support buildings, mission gardens, and even the ingenious water system have been noted as “the largest and most complete historic restoration in the West” by Sunset magazine. VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, located seven miles west of Lompoc, is among the nation’s most important military and aerospace installation. The base coordinates operations in areas of training and testing of crews, advanced tracking systems reliability, commercial space launch plus research and development. SANTA RITA HILLS is a relatively small appellation of approximately 100 square miles. Intersected by the Santa Ynez River, the cool climate appellation is located between the towns of Buellton and Lompoc in Santa Barbara County, California. The Santa Rita Hills Winegrowers Alliance includes both vineyards located within the geographical boundaries of the appllelation, and those who craft wines from grapes grown here. FLOWER FESTIVAL is a colorful salute to the “Valley of the Flowers” and is usually held the last full weekend in June. The parade is a spectacular display of valley-grown blossoms adorning creative and colorful floats which join multiple bands and other marching units. Events continue throughout the community with a nationally-recognized flower show, arts and crafts booths, a carnival, tours of the flower fields in bloom concerts and other entertainment. CAMPING AGE REQUIREMENTS require persons under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult while camping.

FIRES are permitted in established fi re rings, fi re pits, and barbecue areas. Open ground fi res are not allowed. Fires are not allowed in designated overflow areas unless in an approved container. No fire shall be left unattended at any time.

QUIET TIME is from 10:00 pm until 7:00 am. This includes radios, generators, and other activities distracting to your neighboring campers.

DAY USE of the adjacent City park is 7:00 amuntil dusk.

DUMP STATION use is intended for recreation vehicles; no commercial dumping permitted. Use of the dump station as a parking stall is strictly prohibited.

ALCOHOL IS FORBIDDEN in all areas of the park. Exception: RV campsites.

Smoking, Smokeless tobacco and Electronic Vapor Devices is forbidden in all areas of the parks.

FIREARMS, FIREWORKS, EXPLOSIVES are strictly prohibited.

PETS must be kept on a leash not to exceed 6feet or securely confi ned in a vehicle or a cage. Dogs are not allowed within 50 feet of the park lake. Pet owners will pick up and dispose of waste from their pet(s). Aggressive or unusually noisy animals of any sort are prohibited. Pets should not be left unattended at any time.

SPEED LIMIT within the park is 5 MILES PER HOUR.

WOOD GATHERING is prohibited except for driftwood found in the adjacent riverbed. Fire-wood is available for purchase at the River Park RV Camp Host Space#4.

HORSES are not allowed in the park.

GOLFING is prohibited in the park.

VEGETATION and NATURAL FEATURES including but not limited to plants, trees, animals, etc., should not be damaged, injured or disturbed.

MOTORCYCLES must conform to the provisions of the California Vehicle Code. Motorized cycles are allowed on the paved roadways and parking lots ONLY. Motorizedvehicles or cycles are strictly forbidden in the adjacent City-owned riverbed bottom area.

SWIMMING or WADING is strictly prohibited in the park lake. No body contact of any kind isallowed with the lake. Minors under the age of 12 shall be accompanied by an adult when fi shing at the lake. Any amphibious motorized vechicles are prohibited.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

In order to ensure your stay is a pleasant one, the following rules and regulations have been adopted by the Lompoc Parks and Recreation Commission pursuant to City Code Section 12.08.040. These rules will be enforced by theCity’s Park Rangers and the Lompoc PoliceDepartment. Violators may be subject to citationand prosecution.The following is a summary of the Rules & Regulations for River Park and Ken Adams Campgrounds. For a complete copy see Park & Rec Resolution 14-01.

REGISTER and PAY the required fee before occupying campsites. Register and pay at the “Iron Ranger” station.

CAMPSITES are AVAILABLE on a fi rst come, fi rst served basis. The Parks Supervisor mayau tho r i ze the app rova l o f advancedreservat ions in certa in cases of large groups or special events.

CAMPING and PICNICKING in designated areas only. The parking lots north to the campground area shall be designated as overfl ow areas. Dumping of waste materials or gray water on the ground is not permitted. LIMIT OF 2 MOTOR VEHICLES PER SITE.Maximum of 6 people per site including children.

CAMPING LIMIT of twenty one (21) days for campers and trailers in any twenty eight (28)day period. Check out time is 2 pm daily.Campers arriving before 8 am will be chargedfor the previous night. Campsites are availableon a first come, first serve basis the camp-ground area is intended for vacationers onlyand is not to be used by persons who wish to live in the park. Long-term camping availableby special approval of Park Management.
