ENERGY DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY OF MONTENEGRO BY 2025 • Out of its total hydro potential on the main water

currents of 9,846 GWh, Montenegro is exploiting less than 1,800 GWh (HPP Perućica and HPP Piva), i.e. somewhat more than 17%.

• HPPs on the Moraca River of total installed capacity of 693.7 GWh/annually

• HPP Komarnica of installed capacity 231.8 GWh/ annually.

• Planned investment by 2025 amount 565 million EUR.

RIVER MORAČA

• HPP on Moraca river will consist of storage hydro power plants of 128 MW with 150m high dam, HPP Andrijevo and three downstream by flow hydro power by 38 MW, Raslovići HE Milunovići and Zlatica.

Case study Scenario 4 (2060)

• Water use – Land use • Very bad economic situation causes loss of power in

the govarnmental in relaton to the private sector.• Loss of concessions, corruption. • Migration • Poverty leads to increased colonization of the region

rich in water, Moraca river as well. This is linked to change in land use, agriculture increases, cuting the trees in the region, incresing erosion.

• Biodiversity and nature • Loss of biodiversity in the region• Poor maintenance leads to risk of cracking the dam.

Case study Scenario 4 (2060)

• Climate change • Decreased water potential• No water in the capital city Podgorica • Political aspect • Reduced water resources lead to conflict on local and

regional level. • Reducing the amount of potable water.• Social aspect • NGO are to weak to do something.• Mainly due to migration in the region elderly people• Health care is very bad
